Can anybody steer me toward some information on this bike? Mainly interested in the swingarm conversion. Thanks.

I don't have anything to add, but I love that whoever built it kept the K tank. I love that tank.

Yes, and went the extra mile to shave off the bottom seam. It's all in the details.

DrJ, nice catch on that, I didn't even see it. It does look sharp, I'm going have to go look at my scrap tank and practice.

The swinger looks like early '90's GSXR with twin shock mounts added to it.
The forks and wheels appear to be late '80's GSXR units as well, as they look just like the bits on my '87 GSXR750

Thanks. I actually have a '92 GSXR 1100 arm heading my way, just haven't gotten it yet. Didn't recognize it on a bike. This vintage of GSXR, Bandit 1200, and RF900 arms are all real similar and I found alot of guys in the older Katana world are swapping them in because they lend themselves to a twin shock setup. They have a narrow pivot that also makes them a easier fit for early frames. Thanks again.

You're welcome ;)

But I don't know if I should be Thanking You or Cursing You... since that pic has given me ideas for my '78 CB750 :p ;D

What lower seam do you guys speak of? I've got two of these tanks in my garage and neither of them have a lower seam that I can see. The bottom of the tank looks like it has had the chrome strip removed and the tabs that held it either bent forward (What I did) or cut off entirely.
And Redbird. Dude you know you want to sell me that 87. You know you do man... :D

I'm not a 100% on this year tank but the two 78K tanks I have, as well as many other tanks, have that unsightly pinch weld all the way around the tank. Looks like this builder cut it off and rewelded it flush. Just gives it a cleaner look and shows off those lines of the tank better.

Most old Honda tanks are made with 2 stamped pieces of sheetmetal. To make welding easier and faster on the production line, the top and bottom halves overlap with a 3/8" seam. It's good for a nice thorough weld but looks cheap so a strip of chrome is used to cover it. Notice how Harley, old Triumph and even old XS-650 tanks curve in at the bottom and are welded near the tunnel, out of sight. This looks far more finished.

Oh snap. I see it now. That is very subtle. And very well done. I look at one of those tanks everyday and didn't notice that.
