Looking for someone to grind down the heads of a couple bolts!

Got a bridgeport or just the patience to do some straight grinding on a bench grinder??? Well, I need some work done.

Need the heads of 3 bolts zipped down from 12.5mm to 10mm

Willing to pay cash or trade for clubmans or some other stuff.

A great activity to keep you occupied during these rainy days!

I dont have a bridgeport or a bench grinder...just an angle grinder...which would be a royal pain in the ass.

I'd prefer to have it done on a bridgeport since it would be milled perfectly straight, whereas a bench grinder would be a pain to accomplish those kind of results.

Trust me, I'm capable of doing it, just dont have the right tools.

Fair enough. What size bolts and any other details? I could probably do it at work if you're in no rush

Milling machine. But it might take a little while like I said - possibly 2 weeks at the most.

What kind of head - hex, allen, ?

2 weeks I can do...hex head. 1 1/4" long

Either I could send you the bolts or you could pick them up at your local hardware store.

Whadya want in return?

just gotta chime in here - do some extras while you're machining :) these sound like pretty special little bolts.

They can't be that special if you get them from the local hardware store ::)

Nothing special about 'em...I'm the one who's special.

A couple threads on my valve cover stripped, so I said fuck it and just drilled and tapped them a little bigger..looks like shit, so this is my solution.

You'd better get stainless ones.
when you machine the plating off, they gonna rust like rusty things and look worse than oversize you have now

Haha yep, already thought of that one :)

...why not just buy the correct bolts? ???

When i torqued the valve cover last fall the helicoils that were installed by the PO came out.
I was totally broke and desperate to get my bike on the road so I said fuck it and just tapped it bigger.

Looks like shit and I regret doing it, so this is the easiest way to make it look normal.

I see! If you grid down the heads on any bolt other than stainless, they'll just rust. Plus bolts at hardware stores are of pretty cheap quality, pretty soft. Maybe you should go to a fastener supply store, and get some nice button head bolts, or something.. Probably quicker, cheaper, and nicer looking in the long run.
