the first pic is the new template w/ my first attempt, i thought the rear was too rounded and whated it more "bullet" looking. i don't have pics yet of the new glass, but it's already done w/ 5 layers of glass. i'm just not sure how i want to mount it. i was thinking of glassing in a 1/4" piece of aluminium underneath that would extend out to past where the turn signals go and bending an aluminium strip and using the turnsignal bolts to hold it. that might support the seat and bolt them together and glue to rubber stoppers from the stock seat onto mine. this is a 72 cb350 btw. my friend who fabs for a hot rod shop offered to pound out a piece of aluminium to cover the rear and is gonna get me a piece of vinyl or leather and pad for me to cover the rest. any input would be great. btw i started this before i found this site. wish i would have found it sooner. i didn't think of using gas tanks and helmets for the back part, like some here did

looks purty gude. just make sure you wrap that in foil before you glass it. the resin will eat the hell out of it

here it is w/ 5 layers of glass and primed

how's everyone mounting thier seat's?

I saw somebody around here using cabinet latches. Those ones with a little point that clicks between a couple of rollers like on a cabinet door. I put two of these on my new seat pan tonight and they seem to work pretty well. For me they aren't quite enough though. Let us know what you find.

i have had the best luck doing it this way

yeah i'd do it that way , but then i would have to make my vinyl removable which i don't plan on doing. i figured it out. will update w/ pics

The RockCity way looks interesting. I think if you set your hardware into the glass using epoxy you wouldn't have to remove the vinyl.

What seems to me like the ideal solution is a really big version of the clamps that hold fuses in place. You know, the little 3/4 circle metal spring things that the fuses slip into then snap in place. If you could find some of those that fit the diameter of your frame tube and set them on the bottom of your pan, you'd be all set.

Does such a thing exist? I'd like to try them if they do. I put cabinet latches on my seat this weekend and they work fine, but I'm not 100% sure they'll stay.

Looking forward to seeing what you've got Clean.
