Lotus has a road registered "cafe" motorcycle coming out

The rake looks a little odd. But this is a watercooled 200hp v-twin that weighs in under 400lbs.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this COULD be a contender for fastest production bike given the power/weight ratio. I'm gonna guess this is a $28+k bike.

Thoughts? Opinions? If you won the 400Mil powerball how soon would you buy this?

I don't know if I'd buy it if I won the powerball, but it looks awesome. I'd like to see under the plastics for sure though.

I was thinking the same thing.. the long wheel base (65") is not the most ideal for the twisties. This thing looks like a street legal drag bike. The front rake LOOKS nice with the lengh and lines but how practical it is I dunno. And wih how lotus is known for their supreme handling, not sure how his will be recieved my Lotus enhusiasts. Seems likes something you buy as a trophy rather than ride regularly. Wouldn't mind riding one though

Looks completely unridable. Why are there no pics of anyone even sitting on it? If anyone can find one, post it up.

I don't mind the overall aesthetic, and hopefully the bodywork has actually been designed with purpose, not to look good. But it clearly shares nothing with any race bike geometry, which immediately screams 'showbike'. If it's not designed to be fast and handle twisties, it's a waste of time.

If it was chromed out and covered in spiderweb it would easily pass as an OCC creation - so stick that in your British pipe and smoke it.

Limited production..... 100 units..... R&D is going to put this bike well over $100k. Riding position looks horrible, long reach, short pegs, huge front panels... Suspension looks decent. Beautiful piece of art, but not sure about the other specs. 200 horse is not that uncommon these days. Don't know about fastest, but sure is purty....

The suspension LOOKS decent but i don't know how it would actually handle. I will agree it looks like something is rather display a print of. And 200hp is pretty impressive considering its a 2cyl.

And honestly. I'd never be able to ride this. Ha I'm 5'6" I don't even think.I could reach the bars without lying ontop of the tank.

Looks like a well executed senior project from an art school design student. Beautiful, but unrideable. It's running the KTM RC8 1198cc V-Twin, which is an amazing powerplant that's wasted on this machine.

The only people who'll buy them are Lotus collectors ($100 says you'll see one of the first off the line in the Barber Museum next to his Lotus race car collection) to display in their garage and middle eastern royalty.

BMW S1000rr is 193 hp and 178 kg so I doubt this thing will be any faster. Especially around a corner.

Sadly it has nothing to do with Lotus other than the name and a few paint jobs.

It's built by Kodewa, Dr Colin Kolles company, he who used to run the Hispania Formula 1 team.

I've worked on a few real lotus power vehicles and let me tell you the less of a car or bike lotus actual builds themselves the better. One time I had a esprit out in the rain and the fiberglass was so poorly done that the panels were leaking in the middle of the roof. Not a bad rubber seal, the roof leaked. British junk

I'd hazard a guess at a styling / promotional stunt.

Actually - other than a collector's piece to hang over the fireplace I wouldn't buy one if it was free !

You guys are reading a bit much into this...
It's designed by Daniel Simon, who does SciFi vehicles for movies. They are only making 100.
It's obviously a marketing/artistic piece and I think it looks pretty cool.

Sonic beat me to it.......it's an engineering exercise. Looks like something out of Tron ! It may have the stream lining.....until you put a rider on it. There's no fairing for the pilot ! Impractical as a bike with that degree of performance.

I think I'd have to build a gallery of sorts around it.

Doubt any of them really see any miles to tell how they actually handle.
