lowering piston type forks on cl350

i cant seem to find anything about lowering piston type forks. i have found plenty on damper rod type. just need a little help on how to go about lowering my piston type forks. thanks guys

Lowering? Why lower? I dont think you can do anything as simple as cut the springs on that type of fork, but I can tell you that if you're doing this to improve handling you might just want to do an upgrade.

I was going 11inch rear shocks so wanted to drop 1.5 to 2 in the front. Not really for handling more comfort. just a little high for my liking. Are there any how tos that you know of? And any advice is welcome my first build

I dont know of any, sorry. I'm in the habit of upgrading suspension parts as a rule, so I'm still for changing the weaker CL forks for better.

I'm just about to get started on my CB350 build, but don't know much about motorcycles. I am also trying to keep the build cheap, but what suspension upgrades are available for this model bike? Thanks for the info.

They are damper rod forks, the 'piston' is at the top of the damper rod.
The early CB/CL are slightly different construction but the principle is exactly the same.
You can a actully do some pretty neat modifications to them as in some ways they are a better design than the later forks

Diagrams , or links would be really helpful im just lost when it comes to this subject well honestly lost on all of it, but I fake the other stuff better

Download service manual and look at the pictures.
Google parts microfiche
There are a couple of online store's with Honda parts diagrams, they are far more useful than manual for internal components as they show everything in/on bike

Pretty sure they are the fixed type with pull bolt through top yoke?
Personally, I usually raise bike to get more ground clearance, but I'm getting older so don't corner as hard as I used tp (plus, I'm in Florida, very few nice curvy roads without 20mph speed limits (and lots of houses :( )

Did a little reading here & other 350 build threads & found out that a later triple tree ('71-on) can be lowered by loosensing the pinch bolts & sliding the forks up. Not sure I want to do it yet on my '72, but now I know how. Still wondering what mods or aftermarket parts might help my bike handle a bit better, including rear shocks. I know I'm getting ahead of myself(just drug it out of the weeds), but just getting ideas to help plan my build.

Pic taken from "andrew's" '71 350 build thread. Sorry if this is common knowledge on this thread, but it's new to me!

Maybe, the top of the fork will look a bit weird as it's stepped.
Also,it's not plated so you'll have to do something or it's going to rust

Ok, thought I read here that an earlier bike would have to be changed over to the later type. Not sure how the earlier ones are made or can be modified to be lowered. Just kinda nice that it seems to be pretty easy on mine. Can the front shocks be rebuilt? Are reseal kits available?
