Hey, I'm Hardway from Jersey with a Suzuki project going. Thanks for all the great tech info, I wouldn't have the confidence to cut this thing up without you good folks.

Thanks for the welcome. Its an 03 savage that I got pretty cheap. Honda cb200 gas tank and the seat section is made from the rear of a sportster gas tank. Wanna do more work on it but my garage is about 10 degrees right now. I think the pics I posted yesterday disappeared.

Here we go

That's nutz! I was about to tell you to lose the 16" rear wheel while looking at the first pic, then saw the 2nd one with the belt drive?!??!? Crazy but awesome.

That things bad ass... I dont have a clue how you achieved that, but man, its sick!
I think thats the first time I have seen a belt drive on a bike like that...

Hey, I dig the Ryca bike too, but at 1795.00(the cheap kit) not including the 18"rear wheel, shocks, clipons ,exhaust, etc, your looking at 2500.00 easy. (Plus the cost of the bike) Waaay too much dough for me. I've got a grinder, a welder, and a dream.(heavy sigh)

Nice. PM Beachcomber, he is looking for opinions on the Savage engine. he wants to build a bike around one in the UK. I took my test on one and fond it a great bike, except for looks.

you have made the looks thing much better,

Cheers,

maritime

Yep, belt is stock, the swingarm is actually outside the frame. This makes it hard finding a spot to weld rearset brackets to.

you can actually swap out the belt drive for the chain from a gsx500, i believe, i kinda forget now. But basically you need 2 front sprockets. One is used to drive the chain the other gets the teeth ground off and becomes a spacer. Then it just bolts right on. Go over to SuzukiSavage.com, I think they sell the kit for $79. I am kinda interested in a s40 for a rigid frame build. If I can find one cheap, I will jump on it.

Thanks for the link, I'm definately going to check out that Savage board since I dont know much about this bike. Your idea for a rigid project sounds great for this frame since it really seems to have those lines, much more so than the cafe style I'm trying to do! I'll be welding some straight braces this weekend to try and raise the rear for the flat seat.

Its a suzuki savage. A 650 single belt drive kinda chopper (in stock form). I welded some square stock straight back (for the seat) and lowered the forks. I love the cb200 tank, I'm gonna put one on every bike I build!
