"Stay Thirsty my Friends"
Alright guys so I first and foremost apologize, I have been lurking now for a few months and this is my first post... scratch that it isn't even lurking anymore, straight up creepin! ;D

Anyway I have no excuses, because I have managed to check this site almost every day since joining and I have pretty much been through every build thread, past and present. I found the site while checking out the cafe seats that Sean had over at RocCityCafe... All I have to say is thank you! There is some seriously amazing stuff on here... I could go into why this site is amazing, and how attitude here is so cool and accepting and all that other crap which is awesome, but bottom line... I think some of the best home built stuff out there is being done by guys on this forum. It is very inspiring. Enough of that, lets get to the juicy stuff...

My name is Micah I am in Southern California... well Central Coast to be exact. I have been riding my whole life, mostly on the dirt. I Went to college in Seattle and rode a CBR F4i around for a while and then after graduation I worked as a Chef and mainly rode my 07 GSxR 600R. Wheelie on the I5 in the wet put an end to that and I have since moved on from expensive new streetbikes :-\. I moved to CA and have not been riding but dying to get a project started.

I actually have about 3 or 4 projects in the mix but up first will be a 1982 Yamaha XJ750 Seca. I know a few guys have experience with these... it might have been Joe that had one in college (theres that creeper! haha.) Anyway, I will get better pics up later in a build thread but I have to clear an area to work (More on that later ::))

Alright here it the "Evil Twin" named because it was actually the parts bike to a white restoration project that is complete. Originally it was going to get a cafe treatment, but ideas have shifted a bit.

It looks worse in the pictures, it was actually very clean, I have it a bit taken apart at the moment, but it runs and has been jetted and a 4-1 kerker.

"The Dirty Canadian" Originally a Barn find, turns out it was the 5th xj750seca ever imported into canada. Started out bad but got rebuilt over the curse of a year and is basically done. Totally stock resto except the badges got shaved. But never really my style of bike, the goofy handle bars and atari spedo were down right ugly, the fairing helps this a bit.

The pictures make it look a bit rusty, but it is actually the dust from the granite on my driveway... you can barely tell this thing from the showroom when it is clean. It looked soooo bad when we first got it.

XJ Guys will appreciate this, no 85 mph speedo as this thing is Canadian!

ChrisF beat me to the post, but I also have plans for a cafe with this thing a la CR450F

Get back in there! ;D

Anywho, welcome aboard! Good to see you here, obviously gonna see some good projects happening up your way...geez...good collection.

Only thing I'd say is that that 'CR450' looks much more like a Yamaha TT600. All those big single trailes hammer so whatever it is you'll love it once its done, just make sure you gear it up as they're all running low gearing that runs out of puff at about 140km/h and leaves you revving a bit high on the freeway.

Cheers, and hope you enjoy the ride - boingk

Yeah it is actually a 1986 tt350... I hope it never sees the freeway ;) But I do want to give it the go over. In fact today I went to go look at another project (88 CBR600, ended up being a no go) but the guy gave me a set of forks off a xs750, or so he thinks... I will have to do some research, but i think they might make their way on to the tt350.

I used to ride this thing, and it was pretty fast, figure a set of 17" rubber and some new forks and springs (firmer rear) and I could have a fun little combo. If you look really closely you will realize that the frame just screams "Make me a bumpstop!" ;D

I think with a little work it will do the ton, and would make 65mph around town feel like a race!
