M-Unit vs. PDM60 vs. traditional

So i'm starting work on a '78 GS750 and have grand dreams to redo the wiring. After plenty of searching and reading I'm trying to decide which way to go. Can you guys with more experience and knowledge than I give me some pros and cons of each? I like the idea of the simplicity of the m-unit or pdm but am having a hard time deciphering the benefits of the M-unit (which I know a lot of guys run) over the PDM which can be had for almost half the cost. Then there's the good old fashioned, run a bunch of wires and put in fuses method which we all know is tried and true. FYI I'm planning on a modern r/r, led lighting, and possibly electronic ignition down the line. Lets hear what you guys think!

The PDM60 is a nice unit, but basically it's just a smart fuse box. It'll allow you to run thinner ignition wires and program a few things, but to be honest, I don't see the functional benefit to a lot of what it offers. It's a cool toy, but not much use (when you look at its price) on a real bike.

The m-Unit, though very expensive, is a bit more useful. It has an integrated flasher which will work with LEDs, relays for every circuit (this allows you to run thin wires to active the unit and only use thicker wires for the device that pulls the load). It's also compatible with a lot of the other (also very expensive) Motogadget toys.

Unless you're building a no-expense-spared, custom bike, neither are really necessary. If it's a café, bobber, or other minimalist build, I'd just go with the stock fuse box or a single inline fuse.
