Thanks - what's your avatar bike?

Superhawk?

After one of those...
1967 CB160, it's a blast to ride and a Superhawk CB77 is on the bucket list.

Ah- a CB160. That's where i got my non blinker handle bar controls from.

Could do - once the bike is on the road, they are a bit old looking, i will put a photo of them up here later this week.

Here is a picture of the original K0 pipes - as I said, not in very good nick. One is a tad shorter than the other.

I actually would not use these on my bike, I have another set of headers and a pair of long cones that slip on.

These look like the one-piece header and muffler. I'm in the search for the K1 separate muffler.

Oh - you mean my 'other' set of stock pipes.

I do have a seperate muffler and header set, the pipes are reverse cone style.

Speaking of pipes - I fitted the heat shields today.

First up - I cut up a couple of those little felt adhesive pads you put under furniture to stop it scratching the floor and stuck them to the inside of the heat shields.

This spaces the shields about a quarter inch off the muffler and allows for an air gap to aid in the protection of my legs.

The shields look okay, they do spoil the flowing lines of the mufflers a bit, but I don't think I could ride without them.

I also got a rubber battery strap and slightly modified my battery holder to include tabs for the strap - simple and works.

So Sunday it is back to the wiring again - should have it sorted this weekend.

Will those pads melt from the pipe heat?

I don't think so - they are made from compressed felt so they should be okay.

Felt seals were used on bike parts for years.

The other material i could have used would have been oven proof silicon.

Great, they should work if they are wool felt, but some of the poly blended felts will. You'll find out easy with a lighter.

just a quick headsup re the auto elec i refered to the other day, get a quote first, i've heard recently that he's gotten awful expensive of late

he's a mate and all but moneys money......theres also someone in geelong who's having good things said about his work, i'll try and find out more

where in melbourne are you, you'll have to be a bit more accurate than the middle of bass strait LOL

I'm in Thornbury, so not far from Coburg.

I have been getting some training in motorcycle wiring from a great guy down in Gippsland, via email and phone, and I reckon I have it sorted now.

Or at least - I now know how to sort it.

Great looking pipes, I bet they sound awesome, how p*ssed off are your neighbours ??

I don't know what they sound like yet - but I am hoping for a reasonable level of neighbourly irritation.
