"And that was when the tide turned, and nobody else voted for the CB200, because Bert had to shoot his mouth off"

Such a tough choice, had to pick the 750 in the end. All the owners should be proud though, this is almost always a tough choice. Good luck all.

Love the CB200! I like bikes that look like they can get ridden hard and get dirty. All the other bikes are great as well. Kinda a hard choice for me between the 200 and 750. I am wanting to do a 750 build like that soon so it was kinda tuggin on my heart strings. Just got to go with the 200 though.

Hahaha nahh, i dont think my opinion can change a choice overnight ;)
Besides, i only did the welding and some small machining, Jene did 90% herself.

Remember folks, this is all about convincing people to vote for your choice, not convincing people to not vote for a different bike. Subtle but important difference :) No negative campaigning ;)

I'm not burning the BOT bike because i helped build the cb200. The BOT came a long way and a lot of hours have gone into polishing. You can see it's made with love and its a crazy kickass bike for a first build! But... (and dont hate me for this, its just my opinion and nothing more)

When looking at the buildthread, i see a lot of money (chrome) went into it. I'm not saying everybody can build a bike that way, but it helps a shitload. To me, bikebuilds who truly stand out are crafted, not bought. i dont feel the "bikebuilding butterflies" as much as i do with the others, and imho the details on it wich could have made it an absolute winner are just not there.

Now flame all the way, i thought it thru and felt i had to post it.

i might come on a little harsh, but english is not my first language.

Thank for everything you wrote, seriously :)

Now... if I may.. let me tell you something about building a bike in Israel..

Guess how many Honda CB (200, 350, 750, 900, 1100 etc. etc. ) are in Israel in running condition.... hint - you won't need more than 2 hands, maybe 3 ;)

Guess how many shops that sell parts for bikes older than 20 years are to be found in Israel?... use one of the hands above, cut 2-3 fingers and you will have the number :)

Back in the '70, not so many bikes were imported to Israel and most of those that did, didn't survive through the '80s...

When a part is broken here, like my rims for example, I can't just go and find replacement from another CB... I need new ones...

There are no replacement parts here what so ever... not to talk about new ones..

The front fender of my CB, it's the original, I shorten it and re-chromed it.

Rear fender is from a Ducati 900SD I own, shortened it, polished it.

Chain cover? worked 5 hours to recover the original one and make it re-chrome worthy...

Bolts? 75% are from other bikes I own, zinc plated or chromed for this project...

All the aluminum parts you see on the bike are either original parts that I cleaned, buffed and made like new or are parts from other bikes that I modified.

What's left? headlight and its bracket, , clipons, gauge, grips, rearset and just few other parts are new, just like you would replace them in almost any project...

Few pictures:

Front wheel, before:

Front wheel, after, everything you see (excluding the rim which was damaged, had to replace it) is original part from the original bike:

Engine before:

Engine after, no replacements, all parts are the same parts, after my hands worked on them... well, had to get new exhaust pipes as I wanted 2-1 ;)

Well... I think you got the picture... ;)

So.... building a bike in Israel is a bit different than in many other places... when I buy parts, it's usually because I had no choice or I really wanted to change something.. 8)

Guess how may cafe racer bikes are in Israel? where are those 2 hands?.... lol

And again, I do thank you for what you wrote, it gives me the chance to talk about the difficulties that we have here building bikes... nothing is obvious and what can look in the pictures like clean, shiny and $$, well, check out the restoration process and see how much work was done to make it look like that, by my own two hands...

can't you find parts from the internet these days?

My bike looked the same if not worse when I found each piece in that kind of shape. We all know how shiny your bike is, you dont need to KEEP posting pics of it

lets go redbird!! gotta give it to the o-g members keeping it real in here, rad bike man!

Of course I can, you missed my point here.. I was saying that although it looks shiny, most of it is built, not bought. when you buy a part that cost $15, you pay $15. when I buy the same part including shipping to Israel and 39% (!!!!!) customs for parts, I pay over $40 for the same part... so I rather build it, restore it, not just because of the money issue but because I enjoy it.

See my website below and see what I do, as a hobby, as a way of life.

And... I'm not posting pics to show how shiny it is... it's related to a reply.

I'll just ignore that: ;)

No one on here can doubt that your bike is incredible! From any angle its immaculate, pristine and 'bite the back of your hand pretty'. I just think its funny that you complain about the cost of goods when you tell us how many bikes you own (including a ducati) and have a nice enough camera to post up these pics. Nice mojave tank by the way, im sure to get it shipped to Israel is in the 1000's ;) ;) ;)

Well.. I guess i've bettef kept my mouth shut haha
Still, now that we've got it going anyways, i do think i should have taken in consideration you are in godnowswhere. But when i see 2 pages full of shiny nee bits i really wonder why you use your location and such as a defensive reason. You chose to make it and it does not matter where or hos much it costs, but to me its all about effort, skills and dedication. I did say and still find you did very well on all 3 point. Seriously, especially seeing that you live in israel.
Just think the other ones did better on the customizing and small handcrafted details. And that is what a botm needs imho. Special small thingd that make you smile or wonder hoe its done. I like that in a custom bike. Technical funky stuff.

But you can just as simple buy ebay parts as new ones, and i still find you cannot use your location as a reason. I dont have a scrapheap nextdoor neither, buy parts via ebay and pay 70 dollars shipping + fees. I think all foreign builders do that.

Sorry for the typos, and sorry tim ;) youre right. Consider this as my bribe ;)

I admire hand work and handcraft. The HuF is the 3rd bike I built, I was all into restoring cars until about 3 years ago (I'm 37 by the way...) and there I did it all but it's different. 3 years ago I discovered how much I enjoy working with bikes, on bikes and since I got addicted...

I'm still in the learning curve.. just started to get there and I envy those that can build anything from everything, I'm working on getting there, it may take some time and few more ebay parts 8)

Lior, the foreign builder ;)
