Maritime's new GL - 2UP Distance eater

I really need to find the video, I got them stripped to a certain point and kept all the parts in tubs labeled for each carb but now I don't know what to do next. Dammit I had watched just enough of the videa to get to this point. I may just order another copy and then I find the missing one.

And they look like $24.95 now. I was just on the site ordering the stupid seal that goes between the rear caliper halves. Randakk appears to be the only remaining source.

I got it with my rebuild kit so it was cheaper that way. It will cost me a pretty penny now too as I can't ship to Maine and grab it with the Covid shit going on. I'll have to send it to Canada direct.

Have you removed both emulsion tubes from all carbs yet? I made an inverse-cone brass drift to push out the pointed one, and one of my regular drift punches fit the other. I also ground the sides of a good (older) Craftsman screwdriver for the tiny #30 jet. I made my own float gauge, but that is still a touchy operation.

Non of the above yet. I basically stopped removing anything I couldn't easily figure out how, I will find the DVD or google the correct ways to remove all of the stuff I need to for the deep clean and replacement of orings etc.

sounds like a few cylinders not firing

and fuel is not in the air till after the throttle slide

it comes off the main needle so the carbon could stay there a long while

OK so the screwed up plug wires and running wrong first fire after the dyna must have been it. once I fixed the plug wires it ran awesome.

The emulsion tubes just tap out. Sometimes you can press them out easy, sometimes needs a very small hammer. After removing the fuel jets, they come out through the bottom.

Thanks. I had started to take them apart, then realized I should have cleaned them some before I separated the halves etc. So I put the tops and bowls back on and scrubbed them down. got them clean enough to work on and now have it to the point the plenum is apart. Had 2 screws that weren't playing nice and I had to use my little torch to heat the plenum to release the screws without stripping the heads.

so this will clean them or nothing will.

Pinesol - no job too big.

I bought four smaller bottles last year to clean my carbs and one burst over the winter. The smell in my garage is...not insignificant.

Yep, strong is mild for the smell. need to find a lidded tub big enough for the 2 carb bodies to go in submerged and then attach the sander to make my redneck ultrasonic.

Tell me more...this sounds like Ichiban in full effect

That's where I got the idea, it does work pretty good. I just find a tub with a lid, lid is important. fill it to cover the carb I need cleaned then Duct tape the sander without paper to it and turn it on and walk away for a few hours. The shit that comes out is pretty impressive.
