Hi All
Merry Christmas one and all
Just had 9 bottlers of Newcastle Brown (Importted from England ;D)
Hasnt had much effect, does this mean I'm allergic to it or just sick?
PJ ;)

English brown bitter ales traditionaly have a low alcohol content (3 to 4%) due to the custom of when they go to the pub each person buys a round, so if 9 guys go to the pub after work they all have 9 ales and then try to drive. Newcastle is a good tasting beer but has a lower alcohol content then you are used to. Thats why you didn't get drunk. When I make my English bitter ale it works out to about 9% but I'm from Milwaukee; drinking is what we do best here.

Re: Merry Christmas-am I sick?

I made a Belgian abbey trepple ale last year that had a color and body somewhat like miller light (with a much better taste of course.) It went down easy, but was 15% alcohol by volume. I enjoyed watching my friends get up to leave and fall over. :D
