MGD's 1975 CB360T

Don't mess with carbs until everything else is right, that's a quick way to get into trouble
Timing needs to be pretty much perfect, check advance is working properly adjust valve clearance 0.002" intake, 0.003" exhaust.
Use 0/003" to check intake isn't too big and 0.004" to check exhaust

Thanks PJ. I still need to send you those aluminum spacers. Perhaps I can get the post office today. I'll let you know.

I've been on vacation for a bit, so nothing new with my 360 to speak of.

I got some work to do yet to ride it, adjustments, and simple ground wiring for the front lights.

I may hold off on upholstering the seat until after Mid-Ohio. I'm still not sure on how to finish the seat.

In my travels, I happened upon a beautiful beast. 1200 Turbo Buell.

I'm not a fan of the colors, but a bike this cool can wear anything it wants.

The seat and tail light assembly have been fitted and mounted.

A little more shaping on the seat for me, then off to a pro for finishing.

Valves adjusted, and half full of fuel, I start it up for the second time.

Still burning off assembly lube, and whatever was on the outside of the cases.

Butt she idles down, and stays constant. Sounds very strong.

Sounds pretty even and seems to pick up OK even with real quick blip on throttle.
You will find probably find stock baffle is restrictive at high rpm, (if it's the short tube crossover type)
A larger diameter perforated tube with packing cuts out the higher frequencies and is less restrictive although you may have to make one as I'm not sure if the 'race' baffle is still available?

I haven't had the exhaust baffle out it yet.

I'm curious now.

In case anyone is wondering, I ran out of funds for this project when it came to the custom seat cover.

Plus my clutch actuator always pops out of the ball grooves at the end of a lever squeeze.

Right at the very end, like there's too much cable travel.

So I rationalized buying a GS850 to fix up and sell to raise money for the 360.

Sound logic, right?

I think it's a good plan, the 850 is great if you want a stock bike but doesn't modify well, too heavy, too wide, too soft and underpowered compared to GS1000 (plus it's shaft drive)
I wouldn't hesitate to ride 850 from Florida to anywhere in US though, that's what it's good at/for

I'm curious how your results turn out :D

I ordered a Motion Pro cable to replace my stock cable which was all gummy and yuck. The free end was too short... clutch cam kept popping like you are experiencing. Since I had clip-ons, I had a local guy shorten the whole cable and leave me about a half inch more travel.

I have another cable here that I ordered from Japan that looks to be near exactly like the stock cable that I got from eBay. Much nicer than the MotionPro cable. I plan to eventually use it instead, but need to shorten it a bit.

I like your thinking on GS850... I ended up with an XS650 kinda sorta that way. ;)

Hd same problem with Bnd3n 360 and Motion Pro cable
I got it working but no-one else could adjust it

looking good, how did you get your headlight yellow? krylon?

Headlight is colored with a Japanese translucent paint.

I ordered it years ago for some fog lights on a silver car.

So I thought it was time to use the rest of it.

thanks for the advise on the cable everybody.

When I replaced it, I couldn't get enough slack on it to put a jam nut on the case side.

Might just be my problem.

I have a Motion Pro cable. the adjustment was a little time consuming, but I was able to get the travel right. If you are pulling the lever far enough to click it over, you were already at max travel....adding a little slack at the lever keeps you from pulling it too far.

You HAVE to have the adjustment at the bottom at a minimum so the lever on the ball ramp is as low as it can go....As the cable stretches, it gets better. The MP cables are tight, but they can be adjusted to work.

And if it burns a ton of oil, (once I get the carbs rebuild) I'm sure some one would be interested in the pistons. ;)

Seriously, I'm really hoping it runs well, and I sell it whole.

Not a lot of progress to report here. It's way to cold to even get fire wood, let alone work on the bike.

But, I did pick up a 2006 Buell Ulysses. I still haven't gotten a chance to ride it yet.

Did you get the seat covered yet? I really like the shape you were cutting. About what I am envisioning for myself.

Looks good so far man. I like it. Need pick me up a a smaller cc bike like that.

Buell is out of business now, right?

"Buell" is a Harley Davidson line, that still manufactures parts but has not produced a bike since 2010.

HD will no longer make parts for "Buell's" after 2019.

How ever, EBR (Eric Buell Racing) is very much still in business, producing $40K two wheeled works of art.
