Mikuni carbs on a kz440

I saw dimecity has mikuni carbs prejetted for 440s. I would like to replace my stock carbs with these and put on some nice air filters instead of the oem box on it too. This should be an easy swap yea? Where can I find nice air filters for it and will they clear my battery or am I going to have to move it...?

Ok thanks, other than that, just plug and play pretty much? Now I gotta see if I can find nicer air filters that will fit or figure out how to move the battery... Will I have to rejet the mikunis with aftermarket air filter?

Not 100% sure on the comparability, but it's usually possible to find an adapter some place. I know some folks have, in the past, machines new manifolds out of aluminum and connected the carbs via radiator hose and clamps. Try to get the ID and OD measurements of the new carbs and see how they compare to your existing set.

I would keep the stock carbs and spend the money on something that will improve the motorcycle rather then something that will cause issues.
You will need to buy two or three complete sets of jets and then sit and spend the time tuning the bike

There is no such thing as "pre jetted"
Maybe something close as a base line to start tuning, but not something that is bolt on and go.

Not gonna disagree to someone telling me to spend less money. I just thought the mikunis were a typical upgrade... I'll shift my attention to getting rid of rust, paint, tires, maybe some new wheels and rear spring for now...

+1

Replace the carbs on when you need to do it. You can pack in a lot of engine modifications and still rock the stock carbs.

Mikunis are the typical thing people buy because they think others bought them.
Fix weak links, not make work for the sake of work.

Spend the money on better brakes, better suspension, better tires.
Fix worn out bushings and bearings.

Dont fall for "upgrades" that are not needed
Also dont fall for "universal" parts, even more so when talking about suspension
