Mikuni carbs

Midwestgl500

It's not what you buy it's what you build!
Was just wondering because i have them, lol. I have a matching set of flat slide Mikunis from my 89 yz125 and was wondering how hard if at all possible to convert them to run on my cl350.??

You have a pair of 38mm flat slides? If so, WAY too big. Look for vm28's for a street motor, vm30's for a built up race motor.

And sorry Ihernandezr, vm32's are too big for a 350. They would work much better on a 500cc twin.

The only numbers I could find was in the inlet opening and there is a 34 on the top

post me a pic and measure the bore of the carb on the cylinder head side but it is probably a 34

and if they are send them to me for setup and put them on your gl

or sell them and get some smaller 28s or 30s for your 350

Sounds like the infamous Murray.

Sorry it took so long with the pics. The only difference I know of is the fuel inlet and choke are on opposite sides. Which would be better it would move both chokes to the outside and the fuel next to each other in the center.

do you have the slides ?? and do you know which slide went in which carb

I have one slide for the carb on the bottom as far as the other my step dad lost it a long time ago and just bought the whole other carb. I look at them in my garage everyday and i just sit and ponder. What if?

they are pretty old models but i might be able to get a slide for it still

but it might cost more in parts and jets than it is worth depends on what jets and needles they take

Well then now I see why he bought the new one. I'll just stick it back on the yz motor and continue with the other projects.

VM32's aren't big for 350

Edit:

Ok, that might have been a little rude. What I meant to say was: big numbers on a receipt do NOT equal good numbers on a dyno. Sure, a 350 will run on 32's. Does it run better than vm30's, vm28's, or even stock carbs though?

Not if you are running a race at full throttle. But if you want it to idle easily and be responsive below 6000 RPM, they are too big.

The carburetor size needs to be matched to the displacement. 32's work if you get up above 200cc a cylinder.

i run the baby 28s small body size

on my cb350 they work awesome and fit on the bike well and look proportional

A 350 is 325 cc. So a 28 mm is perfect for lower throttle ride ability. You may lose a little hp on the top , but you get better response in the bottom.
