Actually, at top speed is where you'll have most of your problems if you overcarb. With an overlarge venturi, you don't get the low pressure area needed for carbs to function properly. With no low pressure zone, the carbs don't suck fuel.

Ok, good to know. I've always read (at least on the scooter forums) that overcarbing affects throttle response.

But, if given two carbs that are within recommended size (not overcarbing), the smaller one gives better throttle response and the bigger one gives better top speed? Maybe this is what the scooter guys are saying.

Within the recommended range, that sounds about right. A larger carb (still within the recommended range) would provide better air flow at the top end when the engine needs it the most. The smaller carb, having less volume, would respond sooner to changes in pressure.

That said, there are a number of things that affect both throttle response and top speed and to attribute it only to the carbs really isn't accurate.

OK... I'm on the way to the post office to get these sent out. They should arrive to most of you guys before the weekend. Canada, not sure. Hopefully not too much longer. I shipped out most of the packages via paypal so most of you guys should have tracking numbers already. I'll PM everyone else when I get back. If you don't get a PM from me before the end of the day, message me with your real name.

got em! Thanks matt

You're welcome, guys! Lemme know what you end up with as far as jetting goes. It might be of great use to several of us. :)

Hello y'all

First post. I just got a 69 cl350 I plan on a full ground up rebuild into what I dont lknow yet...Its mostly pieces. Missing carbs. I am wondering if all the hype is legit around these Makunis? If I need to get a set anyway should I just bite the bullet and spring for these rather than a used set on eBay?

I was also wondering what else I will need to fit these. My 350 motor has the rubber boots at the carb ports and they seem to be in good shape. Anything else like throttle or choke assemblies or are these complete?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. .

Im in...but need to know what set I need first.

cb500 with a 600cc big bore and a cb650 cam...what size VM carbs should I be looking at?

Just got home from work and my 30's where waiting for me at my door! Now I hope I can get them on and going soon...
