I have an opportunity to pick up some Mikuni flatslides, but they're 28mm... the 'go to' upgrade for CB350's seems to be the 30mm roundslides. If I go with the flatslides in 28mm will I be undercarbed or will it still be an 'upgrade'?
wierd that there are SO many people on this board who will leap onto someone considering a carb 2mm bigger, saying that someone's a fool to think that they'll get extra performance out of a 32mm mikuni and that they'd better get 30's... but no one has a clue if 2mm less is that much of a killer!
the flatslides are quite a bit thinner so i'm thinking they'll be easier to fit in the space but i don't want to give away a bunch of power just to make an easier install....
I would do it, 28mm woks well as 30, in fact flatslides generally have a higher flow rate than round slides.
Only problem I've found, they are 'taller' than round slide carbs and contact frame or tank
Thanks PJ! I'll check the vertical dimensions as well... hadn't thought of that. I'm going back and forth between the Mikuni flats, rounds and also going totally out of the box and getting some 30mm OKO flats because they're soooooo cheap that it's almost worth a try even if the odds are low!
