Is no one riding this weekend?

Just out of curiosity, are you riding this bike for the first time or is it yours that you're picking up from storage? I'd say it's pretty risky riding a new-to-you motorcycle you're picking up without knowing the condition of the brakes, tires, wiring, cables, battery, etc. If you have roadside repair skills and/or have AAA, I say go for it, but be careful. Hope I didn't sound to Dad-like ;D

Just bought is the bike is in tip top and is ready to ride anywhere. It was restored not to long ago.

These are old bikes, man and that's 850 miles. Riding around your town is one thing, interstate travel is another. Like I said, I'm not trying to lay a Dad trip on you, I just hate hear stories about people getting stranded on long trips. Things break and they don't care if they've just been replaced or 'restored. Be prepared.

I know what you mean, but this is not the first time I taken long trips on bikes. I haved own many motorcycles in my live time ( 46 years). I'm also a truckdriver so if it's interstate or back roads and speaking of backroads that's what I will be traveling most of the time, I have a week to get to Dallas ( I'm on vacation). It's not like I'm riding none stop from A to B this is a road trip of just chilling out. By the way it's 936 miles 16 hours driving none stop.

Cool-never know if I'm talking to an 18 year old or 80 year old. As a truck driver, I'm sure you're already aware of a biker's worst enemy on the highway- truck drivers ;D Have fun and take some pix-road trips are always good for that.

Hey guys got home last night about 7:30. Got to milwaukee Friday night, pickup the bike at the dealership Saturday and got on the road. Man I wish the weather was like in Milwaukee all the way home. I took some pics and will post them later most were taken at rest areas. I
Don't go site seeing by myself hence the rest area photos. I know these bike have a weak charging system so I took with me a new stator and a rectifier. When I got mid ways in MO my headlight started to get dim and as I went by a rest area I pulled in and the bike died on me! I spend the night there and took off my battery off and put it on a little charger I got at Walmart (20 bucks) and fell Sleep on a concrete bench those are a bitch to sleep on! The next morning (Sunday) after the fog lifted I replaced the rectifier put the battey in and she fire up quick, a cigarette later and I was on my way. if the problem continued it would have been a stator. The rest of the way was uneventful except freekin hot! I stop in Ok City to vist family. Monday afternoon I did the last part of the trip. It was fun but I'm glad I'm home with my wife. Oh by the way I have a mean sun burn on my arms, face, neck, and on top of my head! I would do it all over again because it's fun, the only thing I regret I riding alone on long trips.

That sounds awesome, looking forward to the pics. What a great way to get to know a new bike (assuming you've budgeted in break down time)

I wish I could have joined you for some of the journey, but I've got nothing to ride at the moment. You should bring your new toy out to Cars & Coffee this Saturday in Frisco.

What's this cars & coffee?

Are you in Dallas? It's a monthly car show at Classic BMW just south of where the tollway meets 121. First friday of each month, it's a fun way to start your day, starts around 8am and starts to clear out around 11:30. I'll be there with my Ranchero and Loudbike this Saturday. There's not often a lot of bikes there, so it's cool when a couple old timers show up, I was mobbed the first time I rode Loudbike there.

Glad to hear you made it okay. Loud-I'll have to check that out next time I'm in town with my girl's Dad-huge Mustang guy.

I'm in Fort Worth. Coincidentally I'm near 121 so it's not too far. Is that near the Ikea? Maybe I'll try to make it out there. I'll post in here on Friday and maybe we can meet up.

Wow, just looked at the pics on that website. Looks like a nice gathering, though, mostly cars. I love cars too. I want to come out for sure. Will cut into my sleeping in on Saturday, but what the hell - at least it will be cool in the mornings and not the 106 degrees we've been dealing with. I will drop you a line on Friday (can I email you?) and see if you're making it out there, or if you see a guy on a pearl white Guzzi, that's me! Sadly, mine's no "old-timer" though. I sold my vintage bikes. I'd like a project again; however, after I'm done with the project on my home.

Just checked out your website and saw Loudbike. Looks really good. By the way, are you a machinist? I'd like to pick your brain about a few things.

No, I'm not a mechanic. I'm a fabricator, which means I can make cool looking stuff... and if I'm lucky, I might also get it running.

Pearl white's my favorite color (painted my Ducati that) what kind of Guzzi have you got?

I'll be there looking something like this: http://www.dropbars.com/ranchero/DSC00812.JPG

I also told my neighbor that if they brought their car out I'd stripe it, so if you come across someone laying lines on a white '61 beetle, that's probably me.

Sorry for the complete thread jack Rikkitabaras

Not mechanic haha. Machine-ist.

It's the new Moto Guzzi V7.

I'll keep an eye out for you if I make it out there.

Hey guys, sorry for not posting pics yet. I work the graveyard and when I get home it's lights out for me! I will be there at Classic BMW this weekend. So we can shoot the shit about my future Cafe Racer!
