Mini Cafe Racers

Hello,

As I had posted pics of the bike I'm building for my sons on the "Welcome" page, I thought I'd start a thread in the projects section. I have bought another of these Garelli mini racers for my other son, so I will be posting pics of that build too.

This was the first bike as bought in 2006

This is it now, almost complete

A short video of the bike running from fuel in it's own tank, first time in about twenty years. The tank was completely rotted out when I got it.

thats way cool. I wanna see the finished product

There's still quite a lot of work to do but it's coming together. There is a bit of paint left to do, the seat needs recovering and there are a couple of issues with the engine that I want to sort out. Also the screen for the fairing is in a bad state, it will be travelling to Florida soon for Gustavson plastics to make some copies. I have struggled to find anyone here in the UK to do the job so I'm sending it over to you blokes to sort out.

Rockets.

yoowwwzzaaa!! nice, any chance of fitting wee expansion chamber to these pocket rockets??

Hey Wee Todd, the bikes come with a sort of one into two exhaust, but I don't think it would be difficult to modify an expansion chamber to fit. Micron used to make chambers to fit all of the 50cc sports mopeds that 16 year olds are allowed to buzz around on here.

you are an awesome dad.

i helped my dad get his "figure eights" down pat for his license test. now we are working on getting his bike done. father/son for the win

Wow...you are a cool Dad, all I got from mine was a broken nose!

I bet your boys are all shades of excited over these eh?

Hey Swagger,

Thanks mate. I had sort of the same experience but I had a good Grandfather who was a big influence.

My boys are loving every minute!

My saving grace was an old guy that lived down the street, I used to escape and hang out with him. He taught me enough to learn the rest on my own. Old Dave was in his mid-80's when I was 11-12, he and his wife took me under their wing so to speak.
