Ok so Im rewiring my 76 cb750k, I am losing all buttons on the bars and changing to a standard auto ignition switch and adding a 3 way switch for the head light (low, off, high). I drew up a diagram but not sure about a few things:

1st the headlight: im assuming the headlight is grounded by the bucket so i think my wiring is right

2nd the tail light - in my current diagram will i have an always on brake light and if i hit the brake it gets brighter? how can i set up running lights for night riding?

3rd Solenoid - since im losing the start button do i need the solenoid, hondchopper.com says no but my local hog shop says yes and i also need to add balast resistors(BR). Do i need to keep the solenoid and if i need B.R., where do i put them in line.

I attached my diagram

Unless you know for sure about your headlight, most headlights have three wires coming off of them (see a standard H4 plug), High, low and ground.

Also, I didn't see a voltage regulator in your dwg.

Not sure about the 750, but my bike doesn't have the starter power going through the starter switch. There is a starter relay. The relay is switched by , well, the switch.

No tail running light? Is that legal?

the brakelight doubles as a tail running light.

good luck without signals and getting it registered though.

if they ask... say it never ever had signals ;)
