Just spotted this. Damn that's a nice bike... Not so sure I would drop that kind of money for something I would be scared to ride but to each his own. For a collector this would be, very easily, the best cb750 left out there... Simply amazing. I had to share... Enjoy!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-Honda-CB750-Sandcast-VIN-446-Museum-Quality-100-original-cb-cb750-cbx-/290937326837?redirect=mobile&forcev4exp=true
There is a guy in northern indiana that use to have a honda dealership back in the day and its kind of a museum now. He 'sells' bikes and parts still but most anything you ask for he either wants way to much or doesn't want to sell. Anyways he has a few older hondas that have <100 miles on them and are true 0 owner bikes as his 'dealership' still has the paperwork for them. Doubt one is a sandcase frame, but its cool to see bikes as nice as this around
Looking at this makes me think back to being a kid in '69 and seeing one for the first time. Great color scheme and those 4-4 pipes! it was like a spaceship compared to what was available at the time. My dad had just sold his '66 CA77 Dream and went to look at one- what a difference between a few years. Hope you get every penny. Helps the value of all of our bikes... just makes it harder to buy more!
I grew up staring in the window of this place. 1975 CB750SS with 00001 on the clock and a bunch of other bikes. Just locked the door one day and it has sat like that since.
Congrats on the sale, that's a lovely machine worthy of a museum (and every penny of the price tag)
For those that don't know, sandcast 750's are HIGHLY sought after by collectors for various reasons, not the least of which is the fact the they're SANDCAST. Look it up if you don't know what it means.
Glad you sold it off eBay - they have enough money
This particular sandcast was pretty special, given it's never been 'restored' and it has some interesting provenance. Not many true survivors out there. Maybe one day someone will unearth one still in the shipping crate, but one with 12,000 miles put on by good friends of James Dean and clearly coveted for its entire existence is about as close to a crate-fresh find you'll get.
