Modifying & rewiring airhead R60/7

Today I finally started pulling apart the wiring and labeling everything to simplify it quite a bit. The inside of my headlight housing looks like spaghetti and someone has definitely changed some things. Not too bad, but I am somewhat new to electrical, so I'm taking my time.

Anyways, there's a few things I have questions about.

1. Can I upgrade this giant fuse board?
This is what I am referring to:

If not, what are my relocation options if I want to go with a smaller headlight that does not fit this board?

2. Fuse to circuit breaker conversion. Basically I found that this electrical system uses old ceramic fuses and I've read they go out when you are least expecting them to (what doesn't?). This kills the running taillight, etc. I've also searched around and found that I can replace the old fuses with a circuit breaker that pops up, to reset, you just push it back down. Does anyone have any more explanation on this? Where I could possibly get these breakers? And any specific "electrical" things I should know? This would make things a lot easier. Also, does placement matter? I think I read somewhere that the length of wire should be short to the breakers/fuses. I'm not really sure what that means. Any explaining will help and be appreciated.

3. Any airhead builders have any suggestion on simplifying and cleaning up the wiring? What did you eliminate?

Lastly, where can I get the vintage looking cloth / fabric woven wire casings? The black plastic and corrugated tubing isn't as sexy.

As always, thanks!
