I am thinking about using one of these Mojave 360 fuel tanks on a Honda Cl 450 build............ Just looking for some feedback, if anyone has used one seen one etc.
I've got one for my KZ250 build. After spending nearly as much on worthless tank (with shipping) that ended up having pinholes or needing a ton of bodywork, I just sprung for one of these. Well worth it...you're money ahead in the long run.
My mounting will be different, but I don't have pics yet.
I got my tank the other day I am going to put it on a cl450 I sat it on my cl350 looks good but is very narrow. I had a fiberglass seat pan with bum stop, it looks much to wide for the tank. I think I will have to fab a new seat pan with bum stop made from a old cl350 fuel tank to look right with the width of the tank. The tank is nice, a little on the heavy side. The fuel petcock mount area is smooth on the O.D. approx 1/2"dia and threaded on the inside maybe 3/8". The tubes on a honda petcock would not fit inside the tank opening. Not to sure about the fuel cap. I am going to have to weld honda mounts under the tank so I am thinking I may weld a different tank cap and filler neck on as well as a honda flange to mate to the honda petcock. J&B moto co Rd 350 looks like they just used some brass fittings that work with the tank. They put a shut off in line, the only problem with that is you have no reserve
Thanks for the info Scrambeemer...
I'm looking to put one on a CB450 build. I was just looking up replacement bung and petcock if I go that route...fill the Italian original threaded outlet and weld in a totally new piece.
Much like yourself, I may just add a cap and outlet as well...
not yet, I just have a pile of parts. I am entering the burning river bike build off. They have not come out with the final rules yet but they are talking an april 23 start date, so I am just getting parts pieces and ideas together, so I am ready to rock when the build date hits. Also have the cl350 motor on the bench, I threw the cam chain last fall and fucked the valves up. Boating season is about one month away so I need to get shrink wrap off ect ect. Not enough hours in a day.
The petcocks are M10x1. I found some NOS Bennelli items...a little expensive, but all metal construction with a filter and on/off/reserve. There are less expensive options out there but they may have plastic handles, no reserve, etc.
Im also working on mounting one of these benelli tanks to my CB200T, I can also confirm that the petcocks are 10mm X1.0 thread. I ordered mine from a scooter parts webstore www.treatland.tv
Great selection of petcocks .....Thanks , price's are great I wonder how well the plastic handles hold up, kinda cool cause ya can get them left and right with reserve most for under 20 bucks

Fist off +1 for using treats! They're a great business to deal with. Prices are awesome, customer service is better than most, and shipping is amazingly quick from my experience.
I ordered one of the "OMG" brand petcocks for another project of mine. I don't have any complaints about the durability of the plastic levers. They seem relatively stable and I haven't had any problems with it in the 5 years I've had it on my bike.
I only see two problems with them:
1) The one I ordered didn't have a label for what is on, off, and reserve. Make sure to figure out your positions before you install it and you won't have any problems with that.
2) The other problem I see is that those petcocks are designed for mopeds (50cc bikes), and therefore have relatively small flow rates. Just because the OD of your fuel line fitting might be the same size doesn't mean the internal parts flow as much as a regular motorcycle valve. Remember that fluid flow is restricted to the smallest opening in a system.
Just some observations that may (or may not) be helpful.
I am using one on my rd hybrid. I used the 'stock' benelli mounts and welded new mounts ontot he frame.
fuel delivery was a HUGE concern for me, so i used 2 10MM banjo bolts with the holes drilled out a bit more to ensure flow, used 2 inline fuel cutoffs and made a crossover under the tank for the fuel. no reserve but im okay with that.
also let the fuel line run along the side of the tank.
unfortunately the legit gus kuhn tank i had .. well, the fiberglass and ethanol didnt play to well. i still have this body set below, just need to get it protected better.
66replica, thanks heaps for the photos. Have the same tank and have been pondering how I would get it to fit nicely. That's heaps tidy and pretty simple. Saves me modifying the frame ;D

No problem. The frame does need a small mod. You need to lengthen the pieces that hold the tank rubbers. Though I suppose you could just mount the brackets off the tank more.
I recently used one on my CB350 build (link in signature), I know its not the same bike, but the frames are nearly identical in size. It fits beautifully.
