cut from same cloth as a dream.

for real mopeds, unless law changed this year they do not require a safety:D

on previous thread i posted some uk sports moped pics. i n the uk at 16years if the 50cc had pedals (ss50 did in this country) you coudl ride it. Suzuki AP50, Yamaha FS1E, Garelli tiger, Gitane, puch grand prix. it created a vast market in tuning goodies some FS1E being clocked at 80mph (while they stayed together) then in 1976 the goverment decided it was to dangerous fro 16year olds and restricted all new ones to 30mph. The old ones staggered on till they either worn out or became collectors bikes. my first road bike at 16 was Yamaha FSiE in 1979 (mine was pre restriction so did 55mph standard) i had it till i was 17 then moved up in CC. They are great fun at 16

That would be a fun throw-away sort of project. Too bad those are pretty rare in my area, apparently.

Also, this is a Public Service Announcement from a grumpy old man: A scooter is not a moped! A simple search for "moped" on Craigslist shows nothing but f*cking scooters. Duh, a moped has pedals, not a platform.

Mopeds (like my disassembled Motobecane) are treated just like scooters now - anything under 50cc's still needs all the same crap as a full motorcycle, but you can get away with a Limited Speed designation on your M license.

It's a shame my wife wasn't riding the moped before, as she would have been automatically granted the LS designation. Instead she had to take the course at a college.

Same safety requirements, plating, insurance etc. Maybe mopeds don't need the safety, but that would surprise me.

yeah i know. by the way ive been looking for a top tank moped with a title also. for some kind of crazy little racer that i can park on campus here. its proving difficult. Egay is not coming up with much either.... craigslist sucks too.

on tuesday ill be at LuLu's in bayview to meet up with a bunch of the Mil Vin Moto guys if you want in. if the weather sucks we can go some other time? btw is your 400 up for a little cruise to holy hill?

She's running on the left cylinder only :( I messed something up this weekend. I'll clean the plugs and wire the choke shut and try to get her running again for the rest of the season, but she needs a teardown. what time is this lulu's thing? I've heard about it before is it every tuesday? I know exactly where it is my brother used to live like 2 blocks away.

there are no condensors or points: she came stock with a digital ignition. it's not the plugs or the ignition. seems to have compression (thumb test.) Yes she's been running on full choke all summer; I just can't get these damn carbs figured out. I done with them they will not be going back on the bike. I'm going to tear her apart now, put the gas in my taurus. I'd like to tear the engine down if anyone knows where to get a gasket set (no z1 doesn't have it.) I've been itching to cut into her with the angle grinder again; I just can't leave well enough alone. I'll be cutting the back end of the frame off and fabricating a new rear frame and suspension. (an excuse to head over to harbor freight and buy that tubing bender I want.) new seat and cowel, redo the exhaust, (even louder) finish up my custom wiring and yes fuel injection (sorry guys I just give up!) I'm probably going to get the frame and comstars powdercoated black, paint and polish the motor and my brother who has been painting bikes profesionaly for almost 20 years (Dave Cook has asked him to work for him before.) will be given total artistic freedom with the rest (I don't even know what color she'll be when I get her back from paint.) plenty to do might as well get started. I'll still buy you that beer later this week but not tuesday and I'll be in the taurus. :( oh well the building is at least as fun as the riding and it's going to start snowing soon anyways.
