more issues with power delivery

Hi guys. I'm having another issue with my cb350!, i sorted out the high rpm miss when i found that one resistor cap was not contacting the ht lead properly, however now i have an issue under light throttle when i set off from idle where it seems to be quite rough unless i fully open the throttle. so probably from 10-65% throttle it seems to splutter a little and not increase smoothly through the rev range.

hopefully someone may be able to help?

p.s. i will check the timing tonight just in case!

Do you have a factory manual?
Go through the tune up section step by step.

If you get to a point that you can not get right then dive into that system first.

Few things to look for right off the bat are
-Bad fuel, this does not mean old. New fuel, new problems.
-Wrong or fouled plugs
-Pod air filters or no filters at all.
-Cut or rotten exhaust

I have been reading through the workshop manual and all seems correct.. i thought it was running too lean at first so i shimmed the needle for the main jet so it would run richer but its still having the same issues so now i dont know what the next step is after timing.. have trid with and without airfilters. and have made sure there are no fuel blockages..

i use the 98 octane premium petrol in it..

i found one thing though. if i pull the left lead off the spark plug the engine will run on one cylinder but if i pull the right lead off the left cylinder doesnt seem to keep the engine goin

The bike never needs 98 octane...waste of time and money. These bikes run on regular, unless you increase the compression a lot. 87 octane is fine. the owners manual says 91 research octane, 86 pump octane. The US is Pump Octane, which regular is 87.

High octane gas is resistance to knock, by being harder to ignite. The ignition system on the Honda is not exactly the strongest in the world.

Try regular gas, and see if anything improves.

If NZ uses Research Method, then 91 is the correct Octane. US uses Pump Octane which is the (R+M)/2.
