I cleaned the piston and buffed it a bit. This is from the seized side of the motor.
I tried to fit the piston head in the cylinder, just to check to see the fit. It will not slide in past the first ring. Into either cylinder, however the piston that was not seized moves freely. Should I replace the piston rings?

Pistons look pretty worn dude. Even looks like the valves have been banging into the top of them unless of course you were banging on them with a hammer to get them out when it was seized in there. lol. I don't know about keeping them or not. Still a newb but I'd ditch them.
Yeah you need new rings at the least. You're going to have to get those old ones off. Check your bore, if they were seized that bad, you're going to need a hone, and possibly a re bore. I honestly would look for a good used set of pistons as well just to be safe. Those rings have to go no matter what.
Is that a 350? I have a pair of pistons and cylinders from a '72 you can have cheap. They need rings and the cylinders need a quick hone, but I can guarantee the pistons fit
It is a 450. I believe the marks on the pistons are from when he was pounding them out and not from the valves.
My suggestion, if the cylinders can be cleaned up with a hone and stay within spec, then do that and just get new rings. If a rebore is required to clean up the cylinders, you will need new pistons and new rings.

Definitely not valve knock, and really not too deep. They may cause hot spots though so be aware of that. If they are round and your bore is good, hone, re ring and run.
