MotoFiaccone RD400 Chopper/Cafe build--for real this time.

ha ha ha I FEEL YA ON THAT ONE! My brother is my best friend in the world man... i know what your saying
looks like i also am going to be spreading bondo tonight... i can not seem to get this F'N seat smooth for the life of me! driving me crazy!

ha ha ha ha your right, but i am a pig headed bastard... i want to start what i finished! so i will spend what it takes to make it perfect... only way i will buy one of this bike is if i have a "RAGE" moment and shatter it into pieces... but i dont see that happening... i am hoping i can get the girl to do a bit of the body work while i finish up the oil lines tonight... then I am done till i get the wire harness back... in all reality i could ride this weekend!

I got my carbon in and wasted no time making a new mount for the clocks. I hated the old aluminum mount I made because it never came out right. Plus, it was heavy and ugly. So I used that as a template for my new carbon fibre mount.

I used 3oz, 2x2 twill carbon layed in three plies. I was a little worried it would be too thin, but pre-preg carbon, which is a lot stronger than a regular wet lay-up. Alson, since it's pre-preg, it has that matte, dry look to it. Most people clearcoat over this but I'm keeping it as-is. i fucking love it.

I have a bunch of this material left over, so whilst supplies last, I can make custom clock mounts. The material is flat, so the clock mounts will have to be flat as well. If you send my a template--preferably in posterboard--I can make up a set and mail it off. The cost is $20 + shipping. But understand that a two page paper letter weighs more than the clock mount, so shipping in the US will be about 2 stamps. Canada peeps have to pay a bit more for shipping because it's stupid expensive shipping to Canada (WTF's up with that?)!

PS gents. See that little orange button in the lower left-hand corner of your screen? Press it and do the right thing.

You shouldn't need to clear the CF unless you don't like the finish. The matrix is epoxy after all.

Apparently I'm just following joe around and posting in whatever thread he does. I must be bored.

Didn't get much done over the weekend because I got stuck Martha Stuarting the master bathroom. I do have the oil tank in primer but need to hit it will some 600 grit.

I also got the tank completely stripped and a layer of filler on her. I hate that stuff, but have about an hours more work. I have a new side cover coming this week as well, so hopefully I can get the tank and tins to Mysta2 this week. We'll see.

On a different note, Kev Nimo (http://dotheton.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1252) stopped by this weekend and kicked tires for a couple hours.

Jesus, a couple weekends off and I'm bumped way down on page two!

Well, I finally made some real progress: I dropped the tank, oil tank and side covers off at Dropbars (www.dropbars.com). Though it was a bit more than I was scheduled to spend, I still got a crazy deal from the best painter I know. It was a friend deal that probably would have cost 3-4 times what I'm spending IF I could fine someone who could do as good of a job.

Anyway, I dropped the stuff off and asked Kit to do his thing. Typically, I want to control the whole process, but I handed all creative control over to him. Trust me: he's going to make it unreal. You guys have seen loudbike, so you know. Plus this way, it will be like a Christmas present :)

To be honest, I have no idea what the color will be. We discussed a couple different things, but he'll decide this week what to do. I should have everything back in the next few weeks, so the bike is going to be pushed out of the garage and the work on the Midget will progress.

Stay tuned for pics; I'm sure Kit will take many.

On a bit of a different note, I got an email today from the guy that bought the se7en I built a couple years back. For those of you that don't know, I literally built this car from scratch; what you see is mine. These are some of the shots he had done from a photographer, which i thought was pretty cool.

It's not bike related--or even RD400 chopper/cafe related--so take what you will...

So very cool Chris! I have to admit, I've watched the video of you racing that thing so many times. Everytime I watch the video it makes me weak in the knees!
For those that has missed it: http://www.motofiaccone.com/cinema

Damn, that sounded a little gay. Sorry, But if you guys just watch the freakin video you'll see what I mean. I just watched it again. That car is so bad ass! -Troy

Thanks guys! That really was a fun project and really formed the foundation for how I build stuff. I spent the an equal amount of time building the CB360 and researching and designing the suspension for that car--and that does not even include the fabrication of if. That's why I say bikes are easy by comparison.

Sadly, it got to the point where I really only drove it on the track, which cost about $500/weekend when considering travel, track fees, etc. It was aweful to see my youngest daughter cry when I sold it; she actually loved riding in it the most. But I explained that it's not what one has, but what they learn. I don't think she got it, so I told her I caould always build a better, nice car. She got that :)

Oh, those videos were fun. You couldn't see it, but I held off the Viper for quite a few laps until I screwed up a corner entry and he was able to get by. Actually, I don't know if that was in the video at all. I haven't watched them in a while.

Finally, that gloss stripe was actually black reflective. So it looked metalic gloss black in the sunlight but when headlights hit it, it glowed silver.

That pic is of Bella age 2. She was 'helping' dad. And to think I used to play with my dad's shaving cream and dummy razors :)
