Bike Loooks amazing! I have been watching this one for awhile. Thats an intresting angle on the clubmans, is that more comfortable? most I have seen are able half way - 3/4 of the way up. maybe I will give it a try.
Chris that looks truly fantastic. I still think superbike or drag bars would be the way to go, but otherwise it looks perfect. Now lets get some video of that beast running!
either that or track down some stock royal enfield bars! they are alot like flat trackers without such a high rise, and a touch of a pull back, really awesome bars!... I put them on my bobber build
Thanks guys!! I think the bike stood on its own, but Kit's paint really took it to a different level. I'm on a mobile, but hopefully the pics show the metalic in the paint. I'm really happy with the result and think the bike will turn heads wherever it is. The next step is to install a fresh battery (on my doorstep back at home [Kit: wanna swing by an put the box in the back for me?]).
In the fall, I want to change the brakes out to R6 specs and upgrade the suspension all round. I'm also considering aluminum dirtbike handlebars. But there are some Easton carbon fiber MTB bars calling my name. They are pretty cheap too. Then again, I may just keep the clubmans.
Bike looks amazing man. I'm a huge fan of the RD's.
Side note. Do you have any of those carbon guage brackets left? I'm going with a set of aftermarket guages instead of the big stockers and your set up looks killer.
Really came out nice! The orange really pops against the black of the rest of the bike. I've had a love/hate relationship with orange paint recently, glad to see it put to good use! I think the only think I'd nit-pick is the gap at the back of the tank where it meets the seat. T'would be a simple matter on the next one to shape the seat foam up front to cover the 'package slicer'.
cuz you know.....slicing the package....not conducive to an enjoyable ride. Ha!
Thanks gents! Yeah, I do need to figure out what I'm going to do about that. I'm going to leave it as-is for the summer. Over the winter I plan to:
1.) Upgrade the front fork internals
2.) get new rear dampers (pricy!) that are 1" taller.
3.) switch the front calipers and rotors out to R6 units
4.) probably do the same in the rear.
5.) switch to carbon fiber dirtbike handlebars (very low rise)
6.) possibly redo the for the aforementioned concern
Yep, I still have a sheet of that carbon left. In fact, I'm getting ready to make a 2.0 version. PM me if you are interested.
Sounds great! I don't know what it is (beyond the obvious of course) but I absolutely love the idea of modern brakes on these old classics. I know there are purists and restorers out there groaning and much gnashing of teeth is occurring, but just the same....it just makes me happy! Good choice. If you score a set of blue dots, those plugs can be removed and anodized orange to match.

I got the bike pretty well sorted. I changed the fork oil, primed the oil pump and ran a little pre-mix through her. Once everything was running well, I filled her up with regular fuel. The carbs aren't completely sorted, but when she gets on the pipe, she just takes off. It is insane!
The Kit swung by and rode her whilst I rode his duc. Now that bike is insane. It is just so refined, yet has so much personality. I want one! Hopefully Kit will chime in with an impression of the bike.
I'm waiting for our SLR to come back from the shop. Once I get it, I'll take better pics of the bike. Until then, I'm off to the garage to build a few seats and Go!'s exhaust. It was 102F today...
