If it can be picked up on a pallet it's going to be far cheaper, than a company that will transport it in a motorcycle trailer.

and I've used USF, Fedex freight, and you might want to check Mergenthaler, though I'm not sure if they are East Coast.

East to West coasts of which country? A friend of mine just had his bike shipped from Vancouver to Toronto. Roll the bike up onto a pallet, strap it down, slap the walls and top on it and off it goes.

Yep, done it several times. As Tim says, it need to be on a pallet and banded (metal straps), or boxed in with any straps to keep it the cheapest. Check out uShip.com.

I've shipped 10+ racing go karts cross country (US) for under $375 with USF on oversized pallets. The last one was probably 2 years ago though.
