Mounting bracket idea thing...

Ethanol

Coast to Coast
So I got an idea. Maybe someone has already done something like this and I just don't know what it's called.

Here's a pic.

1 Threaded mounting tube, about 3/8th inch steel
2 Rubber cushion
3 Ball bearing
4 Brass end cap to fit over the tube. Threaded with a hole cut in the center
5 Washer
6 Steel rod, welded to ball bearing
7 Small machine screws
8 Brass tubing

Of course parts 1-5 could be duplicated for the other end. This leaves you with an adjustable mount. You can change the angles and the distance easily and then just tighten everything down well by compressing the rod into the rubber cup by tightening the screw cap.

Anything I'm obviously not thinking about?

Pretty close to how Harley mount their indicators, they use a Allen head ball though.
I've seen that in plastic as a universal mount for something (spotlight maybe?)
Either ball has to be pretty large diameter to cope with torque loading or arm has to be very short

bracket thing huh ? ...
