Movie night in the Burgh?

Mentat

Been Around the Block
So I am looking to start a motorcycle movie night in the burgh. Won't be that often but am trying to figure out how "formal" I want to do it. There's a movie place in Oakmont (just NE of town on 28) that rents their place for ~$250 for two hours. But we could also rig something up at Jim's that would work and not cost $250 ( though we should give him something for it). Not sure if anyone else has a place open enough for us to rig up a projector - if so and you're willing to let us use it let me know. I have a (older) projector but it will work for what we want.

What are your guys thoughts?

I like it Christain. I'd love to watch On Any Sunday on a big screen. The DEK garage may work if we close the garage door and put the screen on that side.

Hmm....Not a bad idea. Gotta have a Mad Max night, though! Anybody got some other movie choices?

The Wild One, Easy Rider... Any chance we could rotate locations some times? Getting to and from the South Hills from Beaver County can be a real bitch. Im not saying somewhere where yinz would have to travel 1+ hr either. Maybe a middle ground. Ill look into locations.

Sweet - the place in Oakmont is down with us using their place - only the cost of admission! ($6 I think)

I want to stick to motorcycle(ish) movies, and they are good with quarterly motorcycle nights.

Some ideas:
The Leather Boys (old cafe racer movie)
Quadrophenia (Mods scooter movie, music by The Who)
On Any Sunday (Motorcycle racing movie, 70's)
Mad Max (The original, with Toe Cutter)
Cafe Racer Society (Mike Seate's movie)
The Wild One
Easy Rider

I'll add more as people post them.

We can do our own movie nights at DEK's or Jim's or even Rich's garage if he doesn't mind us animals showing up. There we can do any movie we want when we want - for free :)

On Any Sunday - 1971 - Documentary on motorcycle racing, actual footage of Steve McQeen and Malcolm Smith racing. My 1st choice by far.

I have alot of old motorcycle movies if anyone is interested. All the On any Sunday's, 61 Laconia, 57 Catalina GP, The Right Line with Bob McIntyre and V for Victory with Joey Dunlap. Plus alot of flat track stuff, and the best new bike movie Faster. Some are DVD and some are VHS (sorry no Beta Max). If anyone wants to borrow any of them they are more than welcome. In addition to that I have a copy of the rare C.C.& Company with Joe Namath and the awesome Anne Margret. Let me know.

"Cycles South" is pretty good.

I think it's the same director as "On Any Sunday". Shot in the same style anyway.

HA! I like how Grease 2 is listed! Ironically, the only thing I really liked about that movie is that it had bikes.......Well.......that AND Michelle Pfeifer in tight, black pants!

Looks like the first day will be Oct 15th. They will be showing "Easy Rider" and "The Wild Ones". Details are quite final yet. There is a small chance it will be the 22nd. Showings will most likely be at 3 and 6. Watch the first one, grab dinner and then watch the second one.

I also am talking to the Hollywood Theater in Dormont about doing one out there in November.

Looks like we will have Mike Seate for a showing of Cafe Racer Society in November. Not 100% sure it will happen but I am working on it.

Why not Greg!? Psychomania is awesome, as is any Troma flick. Not all great bike related flicks have to be documentaries or serious films. Theres not much out there thats more fun than getting together with some like minded weirdos, having a couple beers, and enjoying the subtle nuances of cinemas worst!

Hey Mike... I'm still looking for some strange...? go figure. Damn... Movie night? I wanna be the BIG spoon if Im invited fuckers.
