Here's a pic of my first bike (I picked it up early fall of 2007):

This is how it looks now for the 2008 riding season:

Some mods not immediately recognizable in the pics include:
K&N air filter
1.75" lowered suspension
Honda Shadow 750 shocks at the rear
Rebuilt forks with Progressive Springs and Daytona Fork brace
Aftermarket master cylinder
Steel braided brake line
Adjure 3-bar headlight
A lot of aluminum polishing

This is my daily rider back and forth to work when weather permits. I like the cafe racer look, and I think this is about as close as I'm going to get with the CX, but performance wise, there's still a lot to be desired. I've since picked up a new cafe project bike:

I'm aiming for this with the CB:

Wow... I just want to be the first to thank you for changing the CX.
Looks amazing.

Cool plan for the CB.
Good luck with it!

Wow, you did a great job on the CX, beautiful. You're going to have to keep us updated throughout the CB progress.

Awsome, big differance on the before and after pics. I liked the purple big, too! It reminds me of Prince's bike in Purple Rain... :)

Another bike I thought wasn't cafeable but again I'm proven wrong. It looks so nice I'll overlook the honkin' radiator. Very cool CX. Does anyone ever mistake it for a Guzzi?

Does a CX500 sound like your typical domestic twin or does it sound more like other Japanese/British parallel twins?

I've seen this bike up close and it's very nicely done. We took a nice evening ride a couple of weeks ago. Everything is painted and polished. Sounds awesome too.

I think you earned your wings to Heaven. You took 2 condemned pieces of shit and turned them into works of art . The Japbike gods are shining their light on you . Did I hear an Amen ?

my cb750 project is moving along. I didn't expect it to be done this year, but I might get it going near the end of summer, albeit unpainted. Here's a teaser pic. I think I'll start a new thread on this project.

I shudder to think about what kind of good $$ somebody spent on that hideous seat that was on the 750. Talk about memories from the past.

I'm sure someone would love it...I just don't think you'll find anyone on this board. It may fetch a pretty penny on ebay though.

what kind of tank do you have on that? and did you make or buy the seat?
you may have inspired me to keep my cx500 and try something similar, hopefully it doesnt sell now...

i love them guzzis

i picked one of these up for $298 with a title running well just minor bullshit. how does it look for a starter cafe platform?
