My 1980 XS400 project

Check out my XS400 project. http://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=1566.0 Not quite done yet, but should be put back together after this weekend. Gonna paint the frame tonight and tomorrow. Wheels will be painted yet to match colour scheme on tank, seat and light. I haven't updated it in a bit, but the rearsets are now done, as well as a few other little details.

Rudy..That's a very very nice job done with that little bike, look's great. Can't wait to se the finished product. Keep us posted. BTW let me know what size jets your'e gonna use with the XS pods since i'm looking to do the same with my bike just to give it some punch. I'm ridding with a 2 into 1 MAC Exhaust. Don't you just love these litte bikes? Have a great one and Greetings from Puerto Rico.

Yeah man, thanks! I should have some more pics soon. Just got the frame all painted up this past weekend, looks SWEET!! Put the front end back on and started on the back. A buddy is coming over tomorrow to help put the engine back in without scratching the frame. Don't know yet how this is gonna work, but we'll try. Then I can put oil back in it and..... wait for carb parts. Lol. My jet sizes likely won't be exactly what you need as you can see from the posts that I'll be running straight pipes. They're fairly long and smallish diameter, so they should make a little bit of back pressure. I'll let you know as soon as I get it running well.

Just got the mini gauge from MIKESXS, here's a pic of how it looks. I'm thinking maybe getting the tach also to even up the look on the handle bars. It has a great finish and looks really good. Let me know how it looks.

First of all, your bike looks freakin deadley...

The gauges look great too!

Might have to look into those for a replacement for my Huge gauges!
Can you set the odometer when you first put it on? I wanna keep track of original km's...

Looks nice - haven't seen one in real life. Not as small as I thought (which is good). How is the quality? I'm thinking about picking up the matching set.

Hey Ease... Thank's for the nice comment and about setting the odometer i really don't know i tried playing with the knob and didn't get to set it so i left it as is. I'm getting the matching pair next. I'll post it later. Have a great day.

To Tintin: The finish is excellent Nice polished all the way around and the backlight is a very cool flourecent hyper white it looks really cool when lid up. I'll try to post pics later for your info. Thank's... Melvin.

Sometimes to set the OD on some Speedos you have to push in or pull out on the knob and turn to reset. Some just reset with a push.
I don't know how the one you have works though. Did it come with instructions? If you can't get it to reset and your afraid of breaking it then call the place you got it from and ask them. They may be able to help you. I use the one on my wifes Ninja 250 all the time when I'm commuting so I know when I need to refill the gas tank before and sometimes after I on on reserve.

Got my chain cover from E-bay, very nice and straight, it also had very nice chrome but after looking at it i had to paint it like the rest of the bike . This is how it looks now... Hope you guys like it.

Just found a good deal on a original headlight and ears on E-Bay. I wanted to see how the original setup would look. Let me know how it looks. I also got the tach from MikesXS. Here it is...

This little bike looks so sweet. In fact the style of your bike is what I have in mind for my CB750.

I like the look of the smaller headlight better, but the original don't look bad either.

I decided to go with the original look because the smaller headlight didnot cover the front end like i wanted to. The bigger headlight covers more space and cables... just my 2 cents. Thank's for the comment.

Wonder if i should go with clipon bars, clubmans or stay with the dragbars....

I'm a huge fan of drags... I'm running drags on my Street fighter, and I like them. I do have clip on's on my cb360.. so we'll see what I go with.

Took off the mirrors, droped the handlebars a bit and got the look i wanted. Going with the 3" inch barend mirrors next... Here's a pic of how it looks... Hope you like.
