man... ur the coolest dad!! ;D

my pop will kill me if he ever sayw me playing with his weilding stuff at that age! :'(

WOW...AMAZING!!...
The kids got more welding experience than I do!!

Thats pretty cool. You understand you can't be pissed if he watches a Dukes of Hazzard rerun and decides to weld the doors shut on the family cruiser right........

If he welds the doors shut on the minivan its MOM he has to worry about lol, We would be too busy laughin.

Hes a good kid and DAMN hes gotta have his way...guess thats a good thing and im not stopping him from doing things in life, gona let him explore his talents to the fullest and hope he finds his niche.

He wants a dirt bike now...

Awesome, now I don't feel as irresponsible for letting my 5 year old weld. your's is even younger and has better beads. you should get him an autodarkening helmet for Christmas.

I think it's awesome teaching your kid to weld.......because I weld a lot. Only thing that makes me cringe is the no gloves. No lectures from me but I have had to many mishaps, where heated metal has a mind of it's own and decides to pop like firecracker.

I don't think it's that unsafe for the short time the child in the video is welding. I made my son wear workgloves and a full face helmet, but I don't take many chances when it comes to his safety. (as a single dad I worry a lot about these things and have no one to bounce them off of.) that being said I've been being hit by splatering bits of molten metal since I started soldering at 10. I never wear gloves when I weld because the small amount of occasional pain is a fair trade off for the control of not wearing gloves. also there is no denying the kid looks cooler this way.

I am a certified welder in four different types of welding.....believe me when I say shit can happen. Like I said before I don't question his upbringing of his child, I have a boy I will teach him how to weld. If it was you welding without gloves I would tell you the same thing. And the fact that you think it's just occasional molten metal splatter is naive, I am just letting everybody know. I am around different types of welder & welding 5 days a week and when a welder does not take the extra precaution is when bad things happen.

Well you're probably right. I'm not a certified welder and I only have arc and flux core welders. I've taken 'spatter' to the hands, arms, feet and sack (Ouch!) and have learned not to weld in sandles or shorts, but I hate wearing gloves, for any reason. It hit -30* F (with windchill) here this week and I didn't wear gloves for that either. I don't wear gloves when I ride (despite the large road rash scar on the back of my hand) or when I work with fiberglass. I'm not arguing that your's is the correct way of doing things and what people should learn, but on a nice summer day you'll still catch me welding in my timbos, jeans and a t-shirt. I do have a full face autodarkening helmet now, 'cause I got a bad sunburn this summer with my goggles.

Your right Rudeboy, he should have been. He was tacking the truck together not laying a bead. As far as the helmet goes its a Speedglass auto darkening helmet ;D from what I have heard there on of the better ones.

Thanks for the compliments johnson_steve, I too weld without gloves just for tacking but find the schlagg keeps getting stuck to my wedding band

thats crazy and pretty cool. kid will have some great toys. first thing i thought was 'i cant believe he isnt wearing gloves'
not preaching or anything. if you looked at my gloves and how burnt they are you would never let me weld without them. maybe im doing something wrong cuz mine are burnt and shrunken from the heat. keep the boy building things.
