My cafe hits the road next week!

Nice!!
Cool seat!

BTW just click on the pics. They're not that small.

Beautiful bike!!!! Man, all you guys with your sexy ass hondas are going to make me have to start one of my own. I guess it's okay to have a slow bike in the garage, right? :-X

Hi CBCAFE.... I'm planning some mods to my '80 CB650C and I'm wondering about your rear fender and tail light. Is that the stock fender shortened? What about the light? It looks smaller.

Thats gotta be one of, if not "the " best looking cb650 I've seen. Well done....

Hi Birchw1. The fender on my bike is sectioned approximately 4 inches in the middle. I rewelded and finished it so all the factory rolled edges were preserved. The light is a lucas style with the integral plate bracket. I found the stock light assembly to be to large . Thanks for the kind words on my bike. I am interested to see how your project develops. Keep us all posted.

Thanks for the info, cbcafe. I was considering cutting my fender, but I like the idea of sectioning - it keeps the edges as you said. I found a few Lucas style lights I am considering as well. More questions, if you don't mind...

What did you use for signal lights? Are they LED?
Did you rejet the carbs since you have pods and a 4-1 exhaust? What size did you end up using?

Thanks in advance for taking the time!

I was wondering what my cb650 engine would look like in that combo of black and polish. I'll be doing that for sure. Maybe a little more polish. What jets did you use with your pod filter if you don't mind me asking?

Good looking bike.

None of the lights on my bike are led, however they would certainly make a nice addition if you are willing to spend the bucks. The signal lights are cheap emgo carbon fiber style lights that I would probably not use now. I think I would probably use a small retro style chrome light. AS far as the carbs go, the pilot jets remain stock with the idle mixture screws out about three turns. The jets are a couple sizes above stock with plenty of screwing around with needle adjustments to get things right. Unfortunately I did not write my final setup down. Your setup may vary depending on the year and carb style on your bike. As it turns out i am not a fan of the pods on this bike. The shortest pods are still too long on the outside carbs because they bump into the down tubes. Low speed torque and fuel economy are down. Gas mileage is in the 32-35 mpg range. I am considering removing the pods and installing velocity stacks in the hopes of improving things a little and making the bike easier to set up . I hope this helps.

Good info again! My bike is an '80 with PD50A carbs (original size 92 main jets). I'm running a Jardine 4-1 exhaust and original air filter. The carbs need some TLC and I'm tired of fighting to get them off. So, I ordered a set of pods and size 98 jets. We'll see...
