My CB200

I'm new here and thought I'd show my bikes. I'm from Belgium (Europe), so my English might not be flawless ;)!
Being a student I try to keep things as cheap as possible! Here's my bikes:

The CB200:
Bought this one off some guy who had bought a CB750 and didn't feel like restoring the little guy anymore. There was no rust or real damage, actually it looked pretty damn good but it had some problems. The wiring was cut in several places and needed some serious work, the ignition was off, some parts were missing, the carbs were all messed up. In the mean time I've done all electrical work with some help from my dad, cleaned out the carbs and got most missing parts. The bike runs now but I'm still struggling to get the carb tuned just right. The paint job was just sprayed on top of the original reddish orange (wich wasn't even sanded) and really not that well done. So I decided to repaint the tank and side covers. Still doubting wich color I should choose though. The goal is to restore it first, then go for a cafe racer look!

The GPZ 305:
This was my first "real" motorcycle. I used it to pass my driver's license and now it's for sale (need some money for the cb 200). Had alot of fun with it but I like the old honda alot more! I didn't really do alot of work on this one. Just some small optical changes like the taillight, mirrors, ... and had to fit it with a new rear shock. Pretty fast bike though for a 305!

Others:
The one I used to ride to school before I stepped up to motorcycles (sold now) was a honda monkey CB750k0 edition. Sold it as soon as I was 18 to start riding bigger motorcycles!
The only one I can't bring myself to sell is my little moped I've had for ages

There u go, that's it for now, I'll try to update the topic when I make some progress on the CB!

;)

Welcome to the madness Herre! Got a nice little collection of scoots.

Shouldn't take you too long to restore that CB200, looks like it's in pretty good shape already. Feel free to start a build thread whenever you want.

No worries! Our english isn't flawless either!

Nice collection. I really have a weakness for a 200 toaster tank with a one up cafe seat and a tiny bump stop.

Thanks! I might start one soon yeah! First things first however, just got it running about fine today with the help of a friend.
Here's a video of the first start:

Thank you!

Here's some newer pics! Started sandblasting the tank today with our home-made sandblaster! It's looking pretty good! I know the blue-black looks good on the previous pictures but it was painted right on top of the original red without even sanding it, and you could peel it right off, so I decided to start over with a fresh coat of paint! Also had to change the tank cap lock (old one didn't work anymore).

Once it's painted and I found the time to get some new carb gaskets (It has some false air), I'll start looking to get it café'd a bit. Right now I'm looking for an old seatpan and some rear sets and clubmans on ebay!

Fresh paint done! I went for a ford-grey. It was either this or black but I'm really happy with how it turned out! I mounted all the tank parts and put it on the bike immediatly.
Here's some pics!

I think i'll go for clubmans for the bars. The seat is something I'm not sure about yet. Fiberglass of a leather sport seat... not sure.
Right now I'm a little short on money though, so I'll be riding it like that the coming couple of weeks!

Hi, long time no see!
My cb200 has gone through some changes so first let's get things up to date:

I put some twin air foam filters on (the cheap paper filters really just weren't going to do the job right), and with alot of time and help finally got the thing running allright! Also I found some lower handlebars. It's still not a caferacer but it looks alot better already if you ask me!

Here's a little video of the first 'real' ride:

Let's ride!

There's still a problem though. In the highest gear when I give the thing all it's got (which isn't all that much really) it goes up to 7000 rpm and stays there for a while, then it's like a pull the clutch (it goes to 8-9000 all of a sudden without me doing anything, but really no difference whatsoever in power when this happens). Is this just because of the lack of power or is something still not adjusted properly? Almost can't be, I went to the local mechanic with it and he had a look aswell the carbs should be perfect... Here's a part of the video where you can clearly see (and even more clearly hear) the problem:

I cant watch the video on my phone, but it sounds from your description that your clutch needs adjusted. Have you tried adjusting the cable anymore? I dont know what happens when the clutch springs go bad - maybe thats it?

Well the clutch is brand new. Springs and all! So yeah, that might need some more adjusting seems possible! I'll check it out tomorrow. Thanks man! I'm just so glad it's not the carbs, really had a hard time getting those all tuned up! ;)

I forgot to add - my Suzuki did the same thing when i got it back together. Except it was at 4000 rpm and in all gears. Hope it helps!

This is a guess, but at speed you might have an issue with the pods not taking in enough air, causing you to richen up. Might be jetted fine when stationary on the high end, but the dirupted air flow defeats the vacum of the carbs...?

If this would be the cause, what's the best thing I can do? I'll begin by taking off the side covers, maybe that gives the pods a little better airflow. The clutch looks fine to me, I guess if it was the clutch it would indeed happen in all gears? This only happens in the highest gear at about 7000 rpm.

Test it stationary. Set up a fan for cooling and rev to 7 grand and see if it spikes. Again I want to say I'm just guessing here. I'm pretty much regurgitating what I have read else where, and as I understand it, this is why the airboxes existed in the first place. That bubble of calm air combined with the rubber v-stacks allows the venturi effect to happen.

Sounds logical to me at any rate. I'll do some searching to see if I can find any info on it.

Everything's fine in stationary. Looks like it could sit there at 7k all day without any problems.

Looks like it's the clutch after all. The springs are brand new but it looks like they just don't push things together enough. Man this thing's got some issues! :-\

Allright, the engine work is just about done. I took the cb 200 out for three long rides last week and the big problems are all solved. The clutch issue was resolved by putting what I can ony describe as washers behind the springs so they press everything together a bit better. Clutch is fine now. It does about 70 mph, 75 with the wind in my back. Sounds about right for a stock cb 200 I guess. Lovely thing to cruise on!

Next up is the seat, already found a sport buddy nearby, I'll keep the updates coming as soon as anything changes.

This is what it looks like now:
