my cb650 build -- which seat???

My build.. Which seat? The bike will end just ast the rear shocks, so all four seats will need to be trimmed to a point. The Roc City seats will let me hide teh battery, so no need for a battery box somewhere inconspicuous, so teh $$ is not that much of a consideration;

the "Norton" decal will be gone when I repaint the tank.

Thruxton style from Neuxstone $79;

The manx seat would be pretty bad-ass, but then you still have the battery issue. I like the first Roccity base because it's got a nice shape and it will hide the battery. As a side note, have you thought of making one specifically for your application? There are tons of threads on multiple methods for making a seat on this forum. It's easier to buy one, I'll admit, but making your own gives you more pride in what you're rolling. A trade-off either way I guess.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this build. Seems like the 650's are going pretty cheap around here still and you don't see many cafed up. Keep it comin man!

I have too much stuff to do to try to make a seat at this point, and I'd rather burn time on stuff like adapting a Brembo caliper for the front brake, and making ths suff I can't buy -- like battery boxes, and riding!

I like the Manx, but the battery issue is a bg deal... I also like the first Roc City seat, but I wonder if it will flow with the lines on the tank...

don't know what to do...

Im building a 79 CB650 myself. There arent too many of us out there for some reason. (on a side note, why is that? everyone builds the smaller and the larger CBs but its rare to find a 650.. ??? )

Have you seen this one on youtube?

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2zEfDtz7CcI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2zEfDtz7CcI&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I think this dood did an excellent job with the lines, using the stock tank etc. His is more like your first Roccity seat and I think it looks top notch. Deals with the battery issue too.

When you get that brembo brake figured out holler at me. I had schemes of doing this in the future. Are you going dual front? And where'd you get that tank from?

There's not a lot of CB650 builds because they did not sell a lot of CB650s.

I'm building an adaptor plate for the Brembo slave cylinder. I got it beacause a Brembo slave and master off a late 90's Ducati is not much more $$ than a full rebuild kit for the CB650 brakes... And my brakes needed to be rebuilt. I'll post about it when I get it done.

At this point, I'm really leaning towards the Manx, bu that can change asteh day goes on...
