My CB750 Cafe will rise again!!!

Re: My CB750 Cafe will rise again!!! UPDATES & PICS

I spent the better part of an hour writing my update and posting pic links. Go to preview and I had to re-log in, wiping out my post!

So here is the abridged version:

Mocked up some headlight options with new brackets and need some opinions.

Option 1. 7" headlight with brackets mounted outside of the tubes:

I don't know how to setup a poll on this thread, but please shoot me some feedback.

Also thinking about using another fuel tank to interchange with the polished drag racing tank for longer range riding.
What do you think? Sorry for the rough pics, my shop florescents don't like -4F cold and I had to use a drop light to take these.

I am leaning on the chrome light also. A friend of mine thinks I should go with a rectangular light but I am not feelin it. Either way that means I have to source a speedo. I have a stock one but would prefer not to use it. I like the small chrome ones, like the one I had originally, but I don't want to give JC Whitney $50 for one and there aren't any available on ebay. Looking for other options. Not sure I want to run a tach or not. I have time to think about it - snow ain't going anywhere.

Re: My CB750 Cafe will rise again!!! (UPDATE with pics!)

Due to the harsh winter and to avoid boring anyone with mediocre updates, I haven't posted in a while. Progress has been made and here are the pics along the way. Appreciate any feedback, good, bad or indifferent. Sorry for the phone quality pics.

Made an insert seat pan out of fiberglass to go on top of my aluminum pan covered earlier in the thread. My first attempt at this method and I think it can out pretty damn good.

Trimmed the pan and added some auto door trim to the edge to protect the cover material.

Reused the foam from an old torn up stock seat. Cut it down from the bottom up leaving the smooth top surface using an electric carving knife - like butter! Shaped it with a drywall rasp to round the edges and smooth down the step up passenger portion of the seat top.

Used some synthetic leather material from Joanne Fabrics at about $3 a yard. Cut the shape out of the material and pop-riveted the cover stretching the material and crisscrossing from left to right, front corner to back corner.

I haven't attached the cushion pan to the seat pan yet. At first I was going to use velcro because my seat mounts are hidden under the cushion pan. Now I am not sold on that idea. Any suggestions that would not hinder the look?

Also painted the headlight bucket and front fender using 2 coats of primer, 3 coats VHT copper color, 2 coats of clear.

I think the lines of the bike are all working well together so far. I also added an oil pressure gauge to the engine.
