i really haven't figured out what I am going to do for a seat so it stays torn for now, and am seriously contemplating rear-sets cbr 600f4i stuff looks close gotta think about that. Also I have been having trouble with it running much over 7500 rpm. I checked my jets secondary mains are 95's ??? but i have tried 100's 110's and 115's and it runs worse with those. do these points like to float? thay are gapped and timed per service manual. carbs have new o-rings as well. I have not hit the ton yet but have gotten it to 85mph and it started to cut out i was around 7500-8000rpm in 5th so I am close just need to lose more weight and get some more RPM's . gonna try and fit some XL forks as well

what do ya think please critique it as well . I know i have some bugs to work out

Re: My Cl project. not total cafe but lemme know what you think

I love the pipes on that scrambler. I'm really tempted to put some of those on my CB360T

scrambler pipes almost changed year to year so I would study up and find out which ones you like the best

Re: My Cl project. not total cafe but lemme know what you think

Nice lid, the Evel Knievel helmet.

Re: My Cl project. not total cafe but lemme know what you think

Bratstyle seat needed on that for sure.
Not too sure about the headlight (or maybe its the bracket)?
Nice pipes and paint, love candy orange...

Re: My Cl project. not total cafe but lemme know what you think

Very sharp looking bike. Love the colour.

Re: My Cl project. not total cafe but lemme know what you think

paint is actually gold looks kinda orange. but it's a gold base w/ a gold candy It's from the ppg radiance series

I'd like to get a set of those too!

Re: My Cl project. not total cafe but lemme know what you think

Bike looks great!

Awesome color, looks good on the headlight bucket too.

Re: My Cl project. not total cafe but lemme know what you think

I likey the color too!

If it were my bike I would do the following things: 1] Cut the ends of the handle bars down to the minimum length needed; I like short bars. 2] Shorten the headlight brackets so the shell is closer to the headstock. 3] Lower the forks in the triple clamps. 4] Work out some kind of rearset. 5] Chop your rear fender and get a smaller, at least 50%, tail light. 6] And lastly, like HotFunk said, consider a brat style seat. I know not everybody likes them, but I do! ;D

I think all of your work so far is right on the money; nothing there to really criticize.

thanks! I want to lower the forks but they are the earlier style so I can't. I have some XL forks I am going to try not sure if i will run gators or not I like them. Thought about chopping the rear fender there are some dents so that Is a good motivator question is how much???? I am still thinking about the taillight but i deff want to keep the bracket just have to find something works. as far as the seat goes I want to do a brat seat but I need to find a CL pan to start with as I want to use all the factory hardware and hinge.

keep it coming

Why not use the one you have?
Can you get a top triple tree that will let you lower the forks as opposed to changing forks?
You can turn your triple upside down, that will lower the front about an inch or so...
How does that headlight bracket look flipped, so it angles up and not coming straight out.
I'd agree with Speed about the bars as well. I think the brake light bracket is probably the part that needs reducing, Sorry I can see its painted to match the rest, but personally I think a smaller light on that wont have the desired effect. I think the rear fender could loose about 6 inches at least.
Just trying to be helpful.

well i wanted stiffer forks and I have the XL forks to try if not I'll maybe flip the top clamp . . I'll try the headlight bracket. I will need new bars if to go narrower i ran all the wires through them and too many holes scares me so maybe down the road. and the reason I don't want to use the pan is cause I am having too much fun riding this thing and don't want to be without it waiting for paint.

btw I have learned a lot from this board so keep the advice coming

Re: My Cl project. not total cafe but lemme know what you think

dunno, if I’d cafe it. looks really nice as is, especially the color. maybe just cafe the seat and slim down the rear brake light and turn signals and cut the rear fender. but, it’s really cool as is.

Re: My Cl project. not total cafe but lemme know what you think

I like it as is, but then I'm partial to scramblers. I really like that paint color.

One little $5 tip -- I didn't like seeing the battery so I took a single piece of sheet aluminum and cut it to size and lined the inside of my battery box.

Thanks for the tip...i'm keeping my stock battery box too and didn't like seeing the battery either. A nice easy fix.

Nice color on that bike. I like the high pipes too. I think the suggestion about shortening the headlight ears is a good one too.

About the seat pan, that's what I did when I wanted a custom Cafe seat for my '79 KZ650. I made up some drawings of exactly what I wanted (having a bit of artistic ability comes in handy here), with a side and top view, sent the rear cowl for color matching the stripes & such, and sent it all to Sargent of Florida. They did a great job, the seat was really comfortable, came out exactly how I wanted, and it was cheaper than getting something from Corbin, which didn't have one available anyway for a bike that old.

This isn't the best pic of it given the angle, but I can't find the other files.

Re: My Cl project. not total cafe but lemme know what you think

the seat is now officially in the works! ;D will post pics when finished.
