I finally pulled this out after wanting it since 95 (when i first saw it). Have very little in it except a few hundred bucks and some hard work. far from finished but it's getting where I want it.
Story: Dad joined the army in 75, stationed in germany in 76, we moved here (Georgia his home) in 96, the bike has been in the shed ever since. finally got it a couple of months ago and I've been making it my own ever since. 1400 miles on it, had some serious rust, but the paint was good, he winterized it, so I cleaned the carbs, changed the coils, plugs and other wearable parts...covering the seat pan this weekend.
gonna keep the old 76 tag on there
I'll be wiring in some small blinkers somewhere along with an aftermarket control box
and turning the rear area into a rack...for beer n stuff
d
original paint was ruined after my girlfriend unknowingly laid a gas soaked rag on the tank =( I didn't have the heart to tell her she ruined it so I told her I scratched it
added some new shocks (ebay..they ride nice IMO) look good too.
I'm starting my second build (before i finish this one) for a friend. I just bought that blue hawk. It was my neighbors (that was at his house) but he's going to afghanistan and doesn't want it in his garage.
