hahah.. well you can tell your dad that at least yours is BUILT not BOUGHT!!..

Build, not bought, haha....I like it. And if he's anything like my Dad, it'll irk him. Especially if you point out that real cafe's aren't water cooled.

We got an add here in the Pittsburgh Craigslist, from a guy selling a CB750 Cafe. The ad starts out:

One of the only true cafe racers in Pittsburgh.

OK, nto bad, the photo does show a decent looking cafe bike. In fact, he's only selling it for $1500, which is a good deal, I'll admit...the next part bugged me a bit, though:

Its the big 750 not the little 550 everyone else turn in to one.

OK, perhaps I'm biased, since I'm working on a CB500T, but weren't the original or "true" cafe bikes in England, mainly made from twins? Yet he claims that it's a "true" cafe racer....I beg to differ, but it is a nice looking bike, nonetheless.

Ignorance... just shrug your shoulders and walk away... There will always be ignorant and arrogrant people around...why bother getting bugged about them?

also.. the 750 is one of the most popular bikes to turn into a cafe.

I wouldn't exactly call the guy ignorant . Sounds like a guy trying to sell his bike . Besides , 550s handle better than 750s . Any cafe guy into Hondas would know that .. ;)

If you could go back to the late 50s/early 60s at the beginning of cafe racers you would see some dreadful shit being cafe'd. It was a case of using what you had. Most of the kids then didn't make much money so if all you could afford was a pair of clip-ons then that was it. A cafe'd '72 CB350 is every bit as much a cafe as a cafe'd C11G BSA in '61. You use what you got. If would throw that great British word BOLLOX at him the next time he makes a remark.

Im from the Pitt also and saw that ad. I wanted to post it on here and get one of you guys or gals with a 500/550 cafe to come out and show him how "sissy" (his words not mine) a 550 really is... ;D

there you go.. Excellent point!!..
I saw an old black and white that some one posted here...(I'll see if I can find it), ... a group of rockers sometime in the 60's ace cafe with their bikes... Surprisingly along with the usual suspects of brit bikes...was a 65 cb450 black bomber...

Guess my cafe is on steroids it's an 1100. Do have a baby CB500t for the winter to build!
