My First build, '71 cb175 *lots of help will be asked through this*

I can't tell with all the shadow in the picture. Is there a place to mount a second petcock on the other side? Any idea where the tank is from? Not sure how it managed the separation.

I know you said you are running low on cash but look for a pair of Rebel shocks . They are about 10 1/2 eye to eye and your shock angle will not be as drastic

No theres not a second mounting location. And no idea where it came from.

If it's a Honda tank its most likely off an old dirt bike considering how narrow it is, maybe an XL 175/250? dirt bike tanks don't have the balancers because it is assumed that the bike with be going over jumps/ quickly changing directions and therefore the fuel in the tank wouldn't get trapped on one side, of course some road bike tanks don't have balancers either but this is generally because both low points of the tank can connect... (hope fully not because there been jumped LOL..)

I wouldn't be terribly concerned about crossover lines. If you run out of gas, flip it to reserve. If you run out of gas again before reaching a station, that bike is light enough that you could stop and lean it WAY over to slosh some gas over.

There are lots of 175 and 200 builds on this site and many of your questions have been addressed before. That's probably why there's not a lot of feedback. I'm guessing that OPs are expecting you to search for the info you want.

Stretching swingarms is something that some/many/? of us don't recommend because it it is rarely done safely and serves no purpose in improving performance of the bike. A few have been stretched and those threads are searchable. There are a few ways to stretch a swingarm with varying degrees of success. It's not something to approach lightly. A longer swingarm changes steering geometry and weight distribution and effective spring rates and should be engineered to succeed.

Wiring is pretty basic on these things. Single double ended coil as shown earlier is fired once per revolution for a single set of points. It's known as a "wasted spark" system.

Big Rich is correct that you can probably just lean it over when it runs out of gas, but those bikes have a deep tunnel in the tank and quite a lot of fuel stays in the other side unless there's a crossover pipe.

It's always good to see another smaller cc bike on here. And in the bob and chop section too!
The fuel lines on my bike were super simple. The two nipples underneath the tank were just connected to each other by a short tube. I'll see if I can dig up a photo.

well thanks for all the latest posts guys, the help is appreciated.
and as for my project, i havent been posting much as to what ive been doing because i havent sat down at my computer much lately. but the bike is nearly back together, still waiting for my swing arm to come back from the shop, itll be done in the next few days, theyre taking their time with it to make sure its done right.

orders a set of drag bars last night, ordered new grips. started to finish the tank today, taking it up to a local bike shop to get a petcock for it tomorrow and installing fuel crossover nipples just because i think it does seem like a good idea.
on a hunt for a new chain, battery and coil, all can be ordered which i will be doing. just internet shopping still.

ill post some pictures sometime soon. im lazy.

Come now, you know we all love to see pic's! STOP BEEN A SLACKER AND POST THEM! LOL

well i disapeared. heres pictures of how she sits now.
im trying to sell her. i have no desire to finish this build. id rather keep putting my time into my car.
asking $850 obo. im located right outside of detroit michigan. will negotiate lower price if youre coming from out of state to pick it up.

thanks for all the input and help guys, i just dont find myself enjoying two wheels as i thought i would.

i have updated info on the bike itself and how everything sits. just ask questions if youre interested.
