Hows it going everyone my named Anthony, i just wanted to introduce my self and my new project. i've been researching how to do this build for a little and finally was able to start. I found a nice little 78" CB750 on CL for $650. great condition. The guy had like 4 of them and one was built the others were stock and he needed the space.. Score for me!!
So a little about what im tryin to do. I want to have a modern 2k GSXR front end with 17' laced wheels and im trying to widen the rear tire while keeping the original swingarm (if that's at all possible) im keeping the tank and getting a simple seat pan with the hump in the rear. big enough to hold a battery and oil res. ive seen it done on here so i know i can do it. just gotta learn how to make one or find someone that can. im moving the electrical and most likely getting an M Unit. that should clean that up real quick and hide that in a tray under the seat pan.

So anyway, here she is

When i first got her home i got a new battery and headlight, new plugs and tried starting it... i was real happy when it fired right up with no issues at all. after that i started to tear her down and after 6 hours this is as far as ive gotten. im documenting everything so i have something to look back on when rebuilding it.

Nice find!
Beware, many subscribers disagree with the GSXR front end swap. Geometry, ya know?
your bike though! do what you will!

For the GSXR front end swap check out Cognito Moto. I swapped a Yamaha R1 front end onto mine and ordered the stem from them, they did great.

There's a program here, it'll work out the rake and trail changes for ya

Awesome, I'll be following this one!

Check into the CBR600 F2 and F3 rear wheels for a swap. I know the F2 wheel was the same shaft diameter as my stock 81 750C and I only need to make spacers and fab up a master cylinder mount for the rear brakes and all should be well.

Please, tell me the negative effects of using the GSXR front instaed of say, a 05 600rr or 1000rr. I up for anything , just learning as i go here. Really want a more model front end though.
Thanks

I'm not sure about using any front end. I did talk a bit with Devon from Cognito about what doing mine entailed. All I needed was the custom stem from then and a new set of bearings from AllBalls. Everything worked out just fine and bolted right one. The only thing I had to do was weld on a new steering stop.

The next step for me is trying to figure out the rear end and how to get modern with it too

Nice... please let us know how well you get on with the rear end.. im up in the air about swapping that too... dunno if I wanna use a modern swingarm, or keep the original and just push the limits with a wider tire. Ive heard conflicting reports. Some say you can get a 180 in there others say 160 max and still others 150.. so let us know man!!!

Ok so quick update.. i always wanted to go all honda but liked the GSXR forks better for the gold tubes.. and they were cheaper than a 600rr front end... but today i scored ... picked up an 05' cbr1000rr front end full for $300 shipped... now if i cam jist sell my '78 front end to cover some of the cost...
