My GL100 Project...

I recently picked up a new project, and I'm anxious to see what comes of it. Would love to see some other projects that others have done with this same type of bike.

Mine is a 1978 Honda GL1000 Goldwing. The pictures below are just a little bit of cosmetic that I did the day I got it. But I've decided to go full on cafe racer with it. Let me know what you think.

Not an easy bike to café, so good luck... then again some folks used to race them back in the 70's...

I love my GL1000. It's not a cafe but it can be done and look good, Google Randaaks cycle shack and read his blog on new to you GL1000's if you haven't already. there are some nice Cafe's and customs on here to look at as well. Welcome and if you don't know how old the timing belts are change them now. Cheers.

www.ngwclub.com has a tutorial on the belts that makes it super easy to do them.

Thanks for the info!! That and racing wiring will be my very next steps!! I would hate for my timing belt to blow out and do some serious damage. Do you have pics of yours?

I went and read your build thread. I'm curious as to if you're going to use the side covers from your original bike.

Ha, right before I crashed there was 3-4 good sets on Ebay after I noticed one should be replaced there was none, and the ones coming up are way too pricey. I saw sets for 40 shipped. the best deal I have found was the single left side for 75 bucks so I am just going to repair mine.
 
Color isn't important. I just don't have any at all. I was lucky enough find a set of top shelter side covers in black for free, but whatever color I get, I can easily paint.

i have a spare set of antares red ones faded but good that i can get at the rest are in one of my trailers
