MY junk

This is my first build bike. I rode regularly back when I was a kid, but finally decided to get a bike again. Anyhow, it's not a cafe... but I do have a lead on another kz440 that will be my donor frame.

Honestly, I don't know what to call this thing... my friend (who rides an '08 Ninja 250R) calls it the P.O.S.

Anyhow, i'll build my cafe yet! On to the pics!

Whatever it is I like it. Definitely a chopper or bobber style. I'll bet you can get your photo in The Horse magazine.

I buy the horse every month and have seen some interesting half/ass chops... I still don't think mine would make it ;D

Thanks for the support though! I always helps to hear positive comments on something you spend time with more than your wife!

So, is that a brake caliper dragging on the ground below the engine? Decided to go the anchor route?

Seriously - love the bike.

Haha...

No, this was the first time I put the clubmans on there and I was trying out a different master cylinder. The angle was too steep for the stock master, so I went with one from a suzuki. It just so happened to have the line and caliper still attached. That has since been fixed and I'm waiting for the master rebuild kit to come in from my local suzi dealer.

Thanks again for the comments. This build has been completely experimental. With the knowledge I have gained from this bike, this site, and others, my next bike should look 100% better,,,, I hope.... :p

You need a new friend ;D

I love it! Never would have thought about putting clubmans on a bike of that style, but it works. How do they feel to ride with? Also, how comfortable is that seat?

Great work!

i like ur bike, it lookz cool :) . i think da spotster gas tank givez it a bobber look. u should try The Horse magazine. im a big fan of magazine and i think ur bike will make it. hey.... ;D it doesnt hurt to try.

Thanks again guys...

The clubmans made it real comfortable to ride. It ended up a better position and was easier to control the bike. I had T-Bars on there, but it just didn't feel right. Made me feel like a parchute.

The hardtail was done by the guy I got the bike from. He's a pro welder and did an excellent job. I wasn't too confident in my welding to do something like that seeing as it takes alot of abuse.

The metal seat pan I made myself. I actually used the frame rails and a ball peen to hammer it out. It is pretty dang comfy. I think it is because of the curve at the back, helps with support and keeps my arse from sliding off. The only problem is the carriage bolts that hold the seat springs on. I picked the lowest profile bolt that would still look decent, but after about 30 minutes of riding I can feel them through my jeans. I may cover the pan sooner or later, I've got other fish to fry right now.

Surprisingly, this bike is too bad as a hardtail. I'm still going to build a cafe, but this thing will make for one heck of a bar-hopper.

Yup, it's a KZ440... Hasn't been running very well until today :-X

After following some advice from an oldie at the local kawi dealer, I went to the local harbor freight and picked up some mini drill bits... That was the golden ticket. The stock jets were about a .6mm drill bit and I opened them up to about .8mm.... that was what she needed! This thing hauls balls! I probably still need to shim the needle a little cause a notice a stutter in the upper rpm's... But I'll get that whipped.

Thought I would post a couple pics from today. Here you can see I mounted the stock speedo in the center with a home made bracket. Also made some "intake extenders" out of some PVC 45 degree angle (only cause cv carbs don't like how the air flows through pods)

I've been loving this build so far, still can't wait for the next! I'm still waiting to hear about the other KZ440 and also got a lead on a cb500 if the guy will ever call me back...

on to the pics!

i still want to know what the vice grips do.

Hahaha... Their holding the negative cable on. Thanks for reminding me, I need to fix that!

Thanks for all the positive remarks!

Love the air filter tubes, whatever the hell they're called.

Bike looks really cool. I'm sure it'd be a great around town bike.

Cool bike, I'm working on a '77 KZ400, had it running well w/ most of the airbox in place, got a set of pods for it, figured on having jetting issues, but had no idea airflow also an issue. Did you smooth out the inside of the PVC elbows?

on to the pics!

Haha, took me a minute to find what you said!

No, I didn't smooth them out. I might, but I didn't really find it necessary.
