So anyway, ive been watching all these great project's and how to's...some great stuff!! To day i looked at this tank which i got of a rolling frame project...Yamaha R5 i picked up last fall of Nocturnal Im not sure if it's a R5 tank??? So i decided to puy some knee indent's ..Went to a buddys shop, with all thes ideas i got of this forum and this happened Firat i had to chose the right kockometor ..Then my friend gave me this Power Hammer, made easy accurate work of the tank there was lots of bondo on the tank so i started to grind away .Then he used this great tool to weld om these pins and proceded to pull out these dents 'Amazing' I then applied the bond and started the sanding All this in a couple hrs and a six pack Hey it's a dusty job ;D

So does any one no what tank it is has i need to get a cap???

Wow, nice work! Makes a huge difference to the look of the tank. I've seen those pins used before, they are pretty neat.

Just make sure you have a pattern to go off of. Really isnt that tough, draw your pattern on the tank with a sharpie or something, and with a fairly heavy deadblow or ball peen hammer, about a half inch in from your line, and with fairly solid wacks (dont be afraid man, once you get it going, it will pretty much do what you want it to) move from the top of you pattern arc toward the front, carefull not to get lower in one place than another. Then move from your starting point back to the back, and then the bottom seam edge, then come across the tank. THIS is where you need to be carefull, as it will cave pretty quick, just take your time.

intrudin,
Looks like you have a rd350 tank. The gas tanks on the 71 and 72 R5's both had screw on gas caps.

Yours looks more like this doesn't it?

I may have a gas cap if you need one. I have several spare tanks. Let me know.

wow...that looks really nice. That takes some balls to do, I'd be afraid of screwing it all up...but man, you can't argue with the results. Nice job.
