My KZ650B1.

Been Around the Block
1977 Kawasaki KZ650B1. Got her last August & been hopping her up since. Here's a short list of mods & some pics.

Completely stripped the harness & made a one off piece eliminating anything besides head light, tail light, brake light, iggy & charging system. Put in spade fuses in waterproof holders, a 12V port under the right side cover, a relay to run juice strait to the coils off the kill switch (known as the wired George coil mod, gets a couple more volts by eliminating resistance) & ran all the electrics through the right switch gear getting rid of the key & dash. I redid the seat, my first one, turned out pretty good! The headlight mount is from an SR model. Welded & fabbed up my own tach mount, rearsets out of spare parts & tag / tail light mount. Performance mods done were a dyna kit, pods, rebuilt & jetted carbs & a V&H pipe.

On my way to KC to see Flyleaf! This is what a 'shortcut' looks like in Kansas!

Just a random picture I took the other night.

I took my vacation with her down to Texas, back across Oklahoma then to Arkansas & went up to Missouri & across Illinios, into Indiana & back in right at a week. About two & a half days of that I wasn't riding, meeting up with friends & family in the Fort Smith area.

Getting ready to try on the new rainsuit...

I'm not totally going cafe' with her, as she's my daily ride. I got to have things like passenger accommodations & light touring capability. I think the best way to describe her would be something along the lines of 'vintage roadster', I don't know!

This winter she's getting a 750 lump with 2mm larger carbs & hotter coils as the compression has been getting lower throughout the season, the rings are shot. When the motor is out I'm want to redo things like the forks, bearings, buzz off all the un-necessary tabs & rattle can the frame. I've got an '89 ZX600 swinger I'm going to try & fit along with having the wheels hooped to 17" diameters along with some other things. What I want to get done verses what I can afford & have time to do might be two different things though!

Got the clumans on the other day, ouch! Definitely something I'm going to have to get used to!

& here's the triumph wheel inside the ninja arm... At least the axle fits! Not sure how far I'm gonna get with this depending on money, fab skills & time...

Looking good man! Hopefully get to see you this week. P.S. I have a H1 (I believe) front end in the back of my Toyota. Interested?

Well good to see a familiar face over here Rob! ;) Quite a few Honda's yes, but man those little twin scramblers are tits!

Jones, yeah a cold one would be great! I pm'd ya about the front end, thanks!

Been working on fitting the ninja arm to a LTD frame for a test bed... Looking pretty close!
