My last car: '74 MGB GT

Been Around the Block
Well, I haven't had a car since I sold my last one back in the fall. It was a really neat MGB GT which I truly made my own. My next car will be a 1950's Ford F1 Panel truck with a healthy dose of modern amenities added. If anyone on here knows of one in need of restoration, let me know. I'll probably be looking in the fall. Anyways, here's the B:

man that flag is probably some of the best paintwork i have ever seen.

bravo man! great car!

That's a hot looking paint job ok, but what proof do you have those Lucas lights work? :D

I know from whence I speak. I was a Britcar junkie. Had a '68 MGB. Bought it for a $1. No kidding. The find of my life. Made it run, made it stop and drove it for twelve years. Great, fun, beautiful car. Also had a '73 B GT, '79 Midget and a '67 Ford Cortina GT.

Lucas, Prince of Darkness ;D yeah, I bought this one for $1,000 and it was wrecked in the front. I remade the front harness and incorporated relays and high output halogen lights. the taillights were iffy at best though. sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't :). Before this one I had a 1969 GT6+ and have been working on MGA's with my Dad since I was a kid. He's had at least 20 MG's. Actually, right now I'm helping him restore a '67 Triumph TR4A. So I am quite familiar with the infamous Lucas electrical systems. I think it's hilarious that you can go through a '52 MG TD and find the same electrical components used in a Midget from the late 70's.

Gorgeous! An MGB GT is one of the neatest cars of its time. Funny you say 52 MG TD, my father has one, silver over a red interior, very neat looking. He has had it since he was 17 years old, he just turned 60 this year. It is currently waiting to be restored but nonetheless it hasn't left his ownership since 1967. Awesome cars...they just need love...and lots of it, haha.

And essentially the same shocks, carburetors, push rods, seat diaphragms, gauges... the list goes on and on. At least for the MGB.

BTW... have you solved the over heating issues? On my "B" I found the timing was off. The factory workshop manual had it wrong from the beginning and subsequently every manual copied the same mistake. When I got the timing right, it was perky and never over heated again.

mine never overheated. Of course I didn't follow the manual either ;D I did the whole "timing by Idle" trick. worked really well too. I also had a weber 32/36 DGV on it which really helped with consistency (the SU's needed frequent attention to keep in tune, as I'm sure you know).
