My new baby....

bad assed, super fast and fully gassed
Here in a couple weeks I will be traveling all the way to New Hampshire to pick up this gem. It is one of my DREAM BIKES, and its in pretty decent shape. Will need a little spit and polish, but Im told she runs amazingly already, jetted and tuned for the K&Ns and the SuperTrapp pipe. Paying a decent amount of money for it, more than I spent on my 1100G, but still less than 2000, So i think its a steal. I had been all geared up to buy something a little more modern since selling my beloved 1100G a week ago, but I was offered this by private offer because the guy saw how well I had restored that 1100G, and knew that I would appreciate it and take care of it. I have wanted an 1100E for a long time, but i got the best of the breed, an 83 GS1100ESD, The last TRUE twin shock sportbike of the Suzuki line...

NICE!

That's what mine started life as. What a monster of torque!. Yours looks to be in good shape, but there are just 2 things to check. First is the anti-dive on the forks, as on mine they were totally useless and prevented proper bleeding of the brakes. I eventually pulled them off and added block off plates. The other thing is i found the bike to be too softly sprung. While this was good on the long straights, i found it moved a bit much in the corners.

I improved both these issues on mine... once i had to repair following an accident.

Good score.

Oooh, that takes me back. The head mech at my old shop picked one up in the late 90s and dragged it. It really opened my eyes to what was possible with a big air-cooled Suzuki. He did a bunch of prep work, like undercutting the shift dogs and putting in a solid clutch basket. IIRC he fooled with the ignition a little, put some pipes on, maybe flat-slides but it's been a long time. Long story short, he had to re-shape the seat with a deeper cutout and a butt block so he could stay on the thing at launch. Sick.

Nice find! ;D

I have a soft spot for 'big inch' sport bikes, and it seems there are others here who feel the same way! 8)

What are you going to do with this big Suzook?

Niiiice bike! Those really do make monstrous gobs of power...

Two things:

You'll probably want to get some better tires pretty soon. Unless I miss my guess, those are Cheng Shin Marquis. I had a set years ago and I can say that they neither stick nor wear worth a damn.

I don't care at all for that tacked on lower fairing, looks home made and kind of crude, but that's just my opinion.

Thanks guys! I know all about the Zook anti-dive rat trap. That will likely get blocked off pretty quick. ANd yeah, My guess is CSes on the tires too, those will be gone in favor of either Avons or Pirelli Sport Demons. And the fairing is the real deal. Cant remember the name of the company that did them way back in the day, but its designed specificly for that bike. It just needs a lil spit and polish. I know these GSes pretty damn well, and will have this thing looking stunning before too long. Then, I will start on the performance upgrades. It runs like a bat out of hell now, but with an APE billet clutch basket with welded plate, maybe get the shifter dogs undercut, and drop a 1166 or is it 1167?? bore kit in it, should be a screamin demon. Depending on how "bolt up" i can make it, i might do early 90s Gixxer front and rear end, or a bandit rear end, but i dont want to alter it to the point of not being able to return it to stock...

The way I setup my GSXR front end was in such a way that didn't require any mods.

I also used my stock swinger for the rear wheel upgrade. The only mod there was to put a mount for the brake stay.

You can build a killer suspension doing that, but it might be worth adding in the frame bracing and such.
