acutally i forgot that that is rossi, he is number 46... did you know that fairing and body is made of tin? yeah!

and also, those gunners were BEHIND the prop... so you were standing technically on the tail section. instead of getting shot out, you could be blown out too....

I think this is Edwards;

"Horses don't fly" by Fred Libby is a great book, he would be who you are thinking of brewtown, Crew of two as far as I know, one gun in the front and sometimes another on a pole to fire back over the top wing where the gunner observer would have to stand on the rim of the front cockpit out of the plane! It's a pusher type so they are in front of the prop with bags on the guns to catch the spent shells to not damage the prop, motor or radiator, I believe. They used them for night bombing later in the war. Great uncle flew 70 night bombing missions.

since he said valentino rossi, im going to go with Colin Edwards.

and thats a cool FE-2B biplane, that thing had a .303 front mounted machine gun front and center, and aft and forth. those things got shot down like crazy. one of the first american aces supposedly flew with the RAF in WW1 in one of those things. it took 5 people to man that thing. pilot, mechanic, and three gunners.

I believe the Fe-2b was a two seater a pilot and a gunner observer who sat in front of the pilot . the engine was rear rear mounted so was of the "pusher type" a bit like the Vickers gunbus. It also had twin booms going back to the rear elevator surfaces. Very similar to the Fe8 and the airco DH2 but these were single seat, pusher types. The picture is of a Fe2b two seater, but with some cool dudes posing on it for the camera ( you can see the foot of another on the right hand side on the wing i think) xxx

This shows more of a similar plane and the negative is an oddly large size so hard to print from, I had to print in sections and paste together. This is the much more powerful type FE2d Lt Libby was hopeing would even up the air war, it had a rollsroyce engine and the big radiator. It seems to have maybe a camera mounting. I don't think I would like starting one of these, its probably what the ground crew are standing there for and there must have been an art to it, like being in a cage with a big propeller, I wonder if it took two to swing it over?

I love the way you hid the custom hi-beam, oil , signal indicator lights under the windshield, I almost missed them there.
Rider doing 270kmh: Valentino Rossi
Airplane: F.E.2b , a wooden, two-seater pusher biplane. (I don't know why there are 4 pilots)
The print of John Surtees on the MV looks great, could you post more pics of your prints.
For the most correct entry, his entry is correct except for:
rear disc : From China on ebay not sure of brand name or who may otherwize market them, so possibly still correct.
Fairing : Is a raceglass replica not for 250cc but 125cc Aprillia, which uses the same H/light.
Muffler : Roo Racing for a 97 GSXR 600 it's meant to be side mounted and so the outlet is angled, this is such a light, sweet sounding muffler without being too loud.
The reason for 4 pilots being on the front of the F.E. would be for the photo, there are other ground crew working on the plane and one, who is working on the engine, has his leg and foot visible in the photo, (I have another photo taken at the same time showing the whole plane) 100 and 101 sqd RFC flew night bombing missions in these, some 200 mile round trips into Germany. RFC officers had an allowance to buy uniforms and they were usually very smart and taylor made.
This is my great uncle with his BE2e and ground crew, probably before his time with 101 Sqd and the FEs.
